Clyde continued to cry as Reeves carried him to the car. "No, no, no!" he cried, struggling to get away from his grandfather. "I want Susan! I want Susan!"
Reeves tried to stay calm and gentle, despite Clyde's resistance. "I know you want Susan, buddy, but she's not here right now. I promise I'll take good care of you until she gets back."
Eventually, Clyde stopped struggling and collapsed in his grandfather's arms. He was exhausted from all the crying and felt a little better knowing that Reeves would take care of him until Susan returned.
