Clyde's heart sank as Dr. Guy returned with a frown on his face. "I'm sorry, Clyde," he said apologetically. "It looks like we're out of birthday cake scent for the mask. Is there another scent you would like instead?"
Clyde was disappointed, but he quickly composed himself. He considered the remaining options—banana, chocolate, vanilla, or plain—and settled on vanilla. Though it wasn't his first choice, he still found the scent pleasant and soothing.
Dr. Guy quickly replaced the mask, making sure it was adjusted comfortably on Clyde's face. Clyde took a deep breath, inhaling the sweet smell of vanilla, and felt his nerves begin to calm.
Though the situation wasn't ideal, Clyde was grateful for Dr. Guy's thoughtfulness and care. It was little things like this that made him feel valued and respected as a patient.
