Iris was left in charge of Alpha-9 when Meda departed, quickly realizing that command meant drowning in paperwork, diplomacy, and operational chaos. To keep the team steady, she recruited Cain for moral judgment and Alex for logistical precision, while Ji-hu and Hoya trained recruits in the bay where Clementine thrived after her regeneration. Off-site, Alexei stood by Valerie during her rehumanization surgery, their wordless bond growing stronger as she prepared to relearn life without cybernetics. Midway through the week, Bright and Clef called Iris with alarming news: 682 had changed, appearing half-living and half-dead, calm but intent, and now calling himself Grax'Tiruun. Cain urged they see it firsthand, and together they flew to Wisconsin, where the creature confirmed his name and tested Iris with questions about Meda's offer of freedom and purpose. The exchange ended without violence, but with the sense that something far more deliberate was unfolding beneath the surface. Iris reported cautiously to Meda, who read the update while flying back across the Pacific and resolved to bring Grax directly to the Compound. Escorted by Foundation jets, Meda and Nahash landed at Site-21C, where Grax sat waiting, half-shadowed, half-lit, and greeted her with recognition. The encounter marked the beginning of a new, uncertain alliance with the Foundation's most dangerous captive.

The chamber is dim, reinforced walls marked with warding inscriptions. In the center, Grax'Tiruun sits upright in a heavy chair, half his frame lit by the warm tone of living flesh, the other half pale, rigid, corpse-like. He does not rise as Meda enters but fixes her with an unwavering stare. Bright and Clef observe silently behind a one-way pane. Meda steps forward, unclipping her coat and setting a recorder on the table between them.
