Last chapter in The Foundation:

Hy-Brasil, once a land of myth and majesty, stood on the precipice of rebirth as its people and allies worked tirelessly to restore what had been lost. King Delbáeth III, alongside an army of engineers, fae craftsmen, and the SCP Foundation, spearheaded the reconstruction, ensuring that both magic and modernity played a role in rebuilding the island. However, the very heart of the land—the ancient leylines—remained too weak to heal on their own, prompting Meda to take on the dangerous task of reawakening them. Despite her recent near-death experience, she insisted on using her plasma energy to revitalize the island's lifeblood, much to Nahash's frustration. With Nahash and Kali's support, the energy was successfully restored, though the task left lingering concerns about the island's future stability. Meanwhile, Baile Ríoga, Hy-Brasil's largest city, slowly returned to life, its streets filled with cautious optimism and long-lost residents reclaiming their home. Unbeknownst to Meda, her comrades had secretly planned a grand festival—Lá na Breithe Grianmhar—to celebrate the island's revival and her pivotal role in it. When Nahash tricked her into walking straight into the festivities, the people of Baile Ríoga swarmed her, lifting her into the air as their beloved hero. Amid laughter and begrudging acceptance, Meda was forced to endure the revelry, realizing that, for the first time in a long while, she was not just fighting for a cause—she was part of a home. As the festival unfolded, her allies watched with amusement, knowing full well that her vengeance for the ambush would come eventually. But for now, Hy-Brasil had been saved, and for the first time in years, its people could celebrate under the light of a new beginning.

The moment my feet hit the stage, I knew there was no escape.

The cheers were deafening, rolling over me like a tidal wave. People were clapping, whistling, stomping their feet in unison, their voices merging into a single chant that echoed through the streets of Baile Ríoga. "ME-DA! ME-DA! ME-DA!" I sighed, pinching the bridge of my nose as I shook my head, a chuckle slipping past my lips. Of course, I thought. Of course, this is happening. A massive banner hung behind me, stretched high above the festival square, its golden letters glowing under the lantern light.

"HONORING THE HERO OF HY-BRASIL" I groaned. Oh, for the love of— The crowd continued their relentless chant, their excitement nearly tangible. I turned my head slightly and caught sight of Nahash leaning against a pillar off to the side, arms crossed, tail flicking lazily behind her. The smugness on her face was infuriating. Ji-Hu, Hoya, Claire, Eve, and the rest of my so-called "team" stood just beyond the stage, all of them looking way too pleased with themselves. This had Nahash's fingerprints all over it, but the others had clearly gone along with it.
