“He is not! He’s not a Death Eater!” I said, a little too loudly at Harry

“How do you know?” Harry furrowed his eyebrows

“Harry, I’ve been spending 3 YEARS at the Malfoy Manor. I think I would know better than you would about that” I barked

“So? You spent the summers there and you had no clue that Lucious was one” Harry countered

He was right about that, and it now occurred to me that Draco always seemed to go to the dark places where I could barely see him whenever he had his shirt off.

No! It’s just a coincidence! I’m not going to accuse my boyfriend of being a Death Eater

“I didn’t know Lucious well. We barely ever talked” I answered

“So what-“He was interrupted by a heavily breathing third-year girl

“I’m supposed to…give these to…Neville Longbottom… Harry Potter…and Victoria Southway” She passed out the notes. It was an invitation to compartment C for lunch by the new teacher, Professor Slughorn.

I could care less about the lunch.

I was more worried about the suspicious looks that Hermione keeps giving me.

~

This was the most awkward lunch ever. I couldn’t finish anything on my plate no matter how much Slughorn offered me. He also seemed to have invited us all because of our relations to someone famous, but I didn’t know of Ginny being related to anyone like that.

“Victoria Evangeline Southway”

I choked a bit in my drink as Slughorn said my full name. Who was this man and why did he think he could call me this?

“I knew who you were related to the minute I heard your name. Southway isn’t a very popular name, you know. I’ve only ever heard it when your mother went to school at Hogwarts. I got the pleasure of teaching her and might I say, she was almost as good as you. I heard you got all Outstandings on your O.W.L.s” Slughorn mused

“Yes, sir” I nodded and almost everyone at the table turned to look at me

“Very impressive indeed”

“Hermione, I don’t know what you’re talking about” I said without looking at her. I just stared at my guilty reflection in the mirror of the train’s bathroom.

“Oh? So you don’t remember standing up for the Malfoy’s when Harry suggested them being  Death Eater? Or maybe we should go back a little to Diagon Alley where you stood up for both the Malfoy’s in Madam Malkin’s?” Hermione accused

“Hey! I stood up for you guys too!” I snapped

“Suggesting that we go out for ice cream isn’t standing up for us! Plus, eventually you just gave up and sat outside!”

“I don’t even get why you’re getting so worked up over this when it very well isn’t any of your business” I said briskly

“I care about this because if Harry IS right, and he has been before, then you are conversing with Death Eaters! And I don’t think that your father would be very happy to hear about something like that” She countered

“My father trusts the Malfoy’s enough to send me there during the summers! I think he’s more than happy to have me conversing with them rather than taking your advice and avoid them, Hermione” I said loudly
