Okay, hopefully there will be some action in this one. I’m sorry if any violence offends anyone.
(Third-Person View: )
Alice watched Sherlock read an email with great interest with her half-open left eye. His surprised expression when he was done got her curious. He lay back down and closed his eyes after sending the email to his phone and shutting down the computer. He looked like he was prepared to lay there for a long while. She closed her eyes for real this time, but couldn’t fall asleep, so pretended to so that if one of them got up she could watch. She knew Sherlock wouldn’t be asleep; he was thinking about her.
(John’s POV: )
I woke up to Alice shaking my shoulder. She had her backpack slung over one shoulder and some gloves on; it must be chilly.
“Hey John. Hope you slept well. I have a feeling you’ll need the extra energy.” She said in a sing-song voice. I groaned and sat up, rubbing my neck. The case was gone so I assumed Sherlock had it. I didn’t let any ridiculous ideas into my head about how things could go wrong by thinking about the mysterious female that had come into our acquaintance. Alice walked out with me and the cold wind blew in my face, knocking any grogginess away immediately. Alice pulled a black stocking cap out of her backpack and shoved it on, walking briskly up to Sherlock.
“Oh, don’t mind me! I’m fine!” I murmured, offended. Sherlock completely ignored her as they walked side by side, her strides matching his. He kept trying to go faster than her, but she kept up easily. I had to jog behind them against the wind almost the whole time to the small station. They finally slowed down as we went in. Sherlock disappeared as we neared security. She slung her backpack on the conveyor belt with her gun holster and moved on through. She seemed deep in thought, so I didn’t disturb her. I did the same and despite my bad luck, made it through without trouble. We went outside and Sherlock reappeared. I don’t have to explain why he skipped security. A covered motorboat met us and we piled in again. Alice smiled at me, clipping on her belt holster. I smiled back quickly. She elected to sit across from me, so I was in the awkward position of having to look at her the entire time.
“John, you don’t have to be afraid of me.” She said simply, leaning forward on her knees. Sherlock glanced at her before looking out the window again.
“I-I know. Sorry. I am just not really used to being around a girl, woman.” I stammered awkwardly. She smiled and chuckled, I think, without knowing.
“Its fine, John. I understand.” She reassured me. I smiled again.
“So... your family. How big is it?” I asked.
“I have 2 brothers and 3 sisters. I’m the 5th kid.” She said, leaning back and putting her ankle on her knee. My eyes widened. “I know-” She started, but she was cut off by the boat abruptly stopping. I was thrown on the floor and Sherlock next to me. Alice had been pushed against the seat. We climbed out and over the hood of the boat, onto the pavement, Alice and I drawing our pistols. Alice checked the driver and Sherlock inspected the damage to the hull. I slung my duffel bag around my back and tried to shoo off the growing crowd.
“He’s dead.” Alice confirmed. "He was sniped before we even hit."
“Move! Into the building! Both of you!” Sherlock shouted, shoving us into the nearest building. A shower of bullets came down from across the canal. We got behind the counter, Alice laughing and grinning wildly.
“Oh, I’ve missed this!” She exclaimed, pushing her back against the tile. I realized that I had too and smiled a bit. A couple more seconds passed and the hail of bullets stopped. Sherlock led us out the back, revealing a gun I didn’t know he had carried. We ran along the walkway on the edge of the water.
