EDITED.

The moonlight was peeking through the tiny gap left in between the curtains as cool air filled the spacious room. It was raining outside, the soothing sound of raindrops pelting against the roof and window echoed in my ears like a melody. It was the perfect weather to tuck myself in bed and go to sleep. But I only found myself tossing and turning around for the past hour, my eyes still wide open.

I tuned out everything around me as I forced myself to fall asleep, which came to no avail. Frustrated, I let out a loud groan before jumping off the bed with a frown on my face. I carefully pushed open the door and slowly made my way downstairs on my tippy toes in fear of waking someone up. I was busy rummaging through the kitchen to search for a carton of fresh milk when I noticed another black figure doing the same from the corner of my eye.

I gasped internally and I quietly grabbed the hand towel sitting on the countertop next to me as a million thoughts ran through my mind. Is he a burglar?

I slowly crept up to the suspicious man and when he was less than a metre away from me, I lunge at him, letting out a strangled yelp in the process. I swiftly wrapped the hand towel over his eyes, effectively blocking his vision. A smirk morphed itself onto my lips as I watched the person struggled to break free.

I got you good.

"What the fuck?" The mysterious man cried out. It was only a matter of seconds before I felt the person wrap his hand around my arm and I was swung to the ground in one swift movement. I let out a yelp as my back hit the cold hard floor.

"What the hell? Alexandra?" I looked up to see Tyler looking at me through his squinted eyes. He offered his hand and pulled me back up to stand on my own feet. I winced a little internally as I exerted force on my feet.  "I am sorry. Are you okay?" He asked, concern evident in his brown eyes.

"Yeah, yeah. I'm fine," I said, waving him off as I gently rubbed my aching back. "I thought you were a burglar or something," I mumbled under my breath with a laugh while Tyler only stared at me intently as though something was running through his mind.

"Wait a minute. You thought I was a burglar so you attack me with a hand towel?" He asked, quirking a perfectly groomed eyebrow at me, an amused smile hanging on his lips.

"Yeah," I said proudly, jutting my chin out a little as I crossed my arms across my chest. "Is there a problem there Mr Tyler Reich?"

"A hand towel? Really?"

"Don't act like you weren't struggling a few minutes ago, I got you real good," I added with a smirk.

"Not really. I swung you to the ground."

"Whatever," I stuck my tongue out at him. "I am going back to sleep," I announced as I turned around to walk back to the room, except I was limping. Pain coursed through my body the moment I stepped on the ground with my right foot and I only winced silently.

"Are you okay? Do you need help?" I heard Tyler asked from behind, his voice laced with concern and worry. I could feel his gaze fixed on my back as I limped away.

"Oh no, no. I'm perfectly fine, I can go up by myself," I insisted, waving him off once again.

"Perfectly fine? You are limping for god's sake!"

I only ignored him and continued making my way towards my room slowly, one step at a time.

"Come on Alexandra, let me help you. I feel guilty," Tyler said this time as he rushed up next to me, his eyes barely meeting mine.

I stopped dead in my tracks. "You? Guilty? I never thought I would hear those two words put together in the same sentence," I teased with a laugh.

"Hey, I'm human too you know?"

"Whatever. Don't worry about me, I can walk on my own and that's final." And just as I was about to make a move, I felt someone's arms brushed past my legs and a soft gasped escaped my lips. I was off the ground and Tyler had me in his arms, bridal style. "What are you doing?" I asked as I kicked my legs around frantically to get Tyler to let me go.

"I am bringing you to your room."

"Put me down!" I accidentally yelled a little too loudly and naturally, my hand flew up to cover my mouth.

"Are you trying to wake the whole neighbourhood up?" Tyler asked, amusement twinkling in his eyes as he looked down at me and I only gave him a sheepish grin plastered across my face.

"Put me down," I whispered softly this time. "Please?"

"No can do miss,"  he simply replied, without even looking at me, But a smirk was etched on his face as he continued making his way up carefully.

"Put me down right now Mr. Tyler whatever-your-middle-name-is Reich," I said a tad bit louder this time, my voice slightly firmer. "Or else I will..." I paused as I racked my brain for something good.

"Or else you will what?" He challenged, his eyebrows shooting skyward.

"I won't hesitate to kick you where the sun doesn't shine," I threatened.

"Oooh I'm so scared!" He exclaimed, his voice a few notches too high to which I responded with a glare that only prompted him to laugh even more.

I continued to protest for a while but soon stopped when I realised he was never going to put me down and I let out an exasperated sigh.

"You have reached your destination, Miss," Tyler recited as if imitating the voice of a robot and he gently put me down.

"I told you I was perfectly fine," I insisted as I tried to rotate my ankle and kicked it around violently. But frankly, I was cringing with pain internally with every single movement.

"Don't be dumb Al, I can see you enduring the pain," Tyler said as he gave me a disapproving look.

"I am not!" I protested.

"Whatever you say, babe."

"Don't babe me," I muttered with a small frown etched on my face.

"Goodnight babe," he said, giving me yet another smirk before he turned around and walked back to his room.

I scoffed loudly yet I can't help but let a smile fall on my face. "Goodnight." I watched him walked away, his back view becoming smaller with each second passing. And just before he disappeared from the corner, I called out to him. "Wait, Tyler?"

He stopped and turned around to face me. "What is it, babe?"

I frowned a little but it was soon replaced with a genuine smile. "Thank you."
