Chapter 47: Alexandra's POV

"Say cheese!" I exclaimed as I pointed the camera to Calum who was seated right in front of me.

I watched in laughter as Calum smiled at the camera cheekily and stuck his tongue out.

"Cute," I teased as I let out a soft chuckle. "I'm uploading this on Instagram," I informed.

"Why?" Calum asked, curiosity evident in his bright blue eyes.

"Never mind that," I said and brought my phone near to Calum. "This or this?" I asked as I played with the filter.

"None," he replied playfully.

"You are no fun Calum," I said with a pout.

I proceeded to upload that photo and caption it "Froyo with Calum ;)".

"My first instagram picture of you," I said as I waved my phone in front of his face.

"And what is that for?"

"To mark our friendship?" I suggested.

"I mean the winky face."

"Oh that. You know..." I trailed off and wiggled my eyebrows at him suggestively.

"That works," Calum said with a chuckle when I felt my phone buzzed on the table.

"Hey, I got to take this," I said with a smile before answering the call.

"Mum?"

"Alexandra?"

"Yeah, it's me. Why are you calling? Do you miss me already?" I teased.

"No Alexandra. It's Nathan. He is in the hospital right now."

"What?" I asked in disbelief. I was just about to question what happened but mum interrupted me.

"Sorry Al. I got to go. You need to be here soon. We are in the general hospital."

That was the last sentence I heard from mum before she hung up the phone.

I looked at Calum to see that he was staring at me as he knitted his eyebrows together in confusion.

"Alexandra, what happened?"

"It's... It's Nathan. He is in the hospital right now. I have to get there immediately."

"Nathan? As in your younger brother?"

"Yeah, he is in trouble. I have to go now," I said as I got up from my seat and rushed out of the froyo store.

"Wait! Alexandra!"

"Yeah?" I asked as I turned around to look at Calum.

"I'm driving you there."

"Thanks Calum," I said as my lips twitched upwards into a genuine smile.

We quickly made our way to the car as I slipped into the passenger seat while Calum got into the driver's seat.

I watched as he accelerated down the streets while I stared out of the window.

As we raced past the trees and buildings, I felt my heartbeat beating faster and faster than before. A million thoughts were racing through my mind at that instant too.

I was worrried sick. Nothing can happen to Nathan.

"This is crazy," I said all of a sudden. "We are 200 miles away from New York City, we can never make it."

"No, we can and we will. 195 miles now. Don't worry Alexandra, I will be there as soon as possible," Calum promised and I responded with a grateful smile.
