By the way guys, this hardly links to the show. I mixed it up a little, Sophie lives longer than she would and Jackson/Hayley aren't married or together. Though it could feature some scenes that are in the show but in different orders and Hope is in it since the beginning. Just in case you get confused.
Elijah entered the compound and took a breath of the damp filled air. He grimaced a little and proceeded to walk further in to greet Hayley, Hope and Niklaus.
"You're back" Hayley smiled slightly at the sight of him leaning against the door frame. She stood next the a cot and glanced down at the baby who gurgled and eventually settled down. "How was England?"
Elijah slowly stepped forward and looked at the baby who had grown significantly since he had left. "England cleared my mind immensely" he lowered his index finger into the cot and gently stroked the palm of Hope's hand "I no longer suffer with visions of the red door and what is behind it"
"Well you haven't missed much" she walked away from the cot, her hands slowly slipping off. The room was slightly darker than usual and very quiet. "Just your brother's antics again; however Hope has seemed to have calmed him down"
"I'm glad" Elijah smiled "I've fought for his redemption for 1,000 years, maybe it is time to hand over my job to someone who could do it more effectively"
Hayley chuckled a little bit, she tucked her hair behind her ear "it's good to hear that you're well"
The awkward atmosphere filled the room as Hayley's pupils darted around the room to find any other place to focus her gaze than Elijah. They both wanted to kiss but Elijah was still unsure of what Niklaus would think, despite knowing about Hayley's feelings, he couldn't act on them as of yet.
"Do you know where Niklaus is?" He asked after a few seconds which lasted for hours
"He's out" she answered "but he should be in soon, I can hear Marcel though"
Elijah nodded his head "I'll leave you two alone then" he motioned towards Hope. Hayley nodded and raised her hand in a half hearted wave.
He turned on his heel and left the room, there was something about that girl that just left him breathless and he had barely experienced anything like that. Though he knew that he had to fight for her affections with Jackson and also he had to worry about Niklaus.
As soon he was downstairs he felt 2 pairs of eyes bore into the back of his head "Marcel, he said "Ms Deveraux" it almost sounded like a sigh, like he was completely unsurprised by her arrival
"Elijah, I know that you've only just come back but me and Sophie have been talking" Marcel approached him, sounding like he was ready to negotiate and explain whatever he wants.
"Cut to the point Marcel" Elijah cut him off, not wanting to listen to him beat around the bush for hours on end
"We need a favour" Sophie interjected, stepping towards Elijah and aligning with Marcel. Elijah raised his eyebrows at her confidence.
"And why would I ever do something for you, you've brought nothing but bad luck to this family" Elijah replied
"It's not really for me; its for someone else that I'm sure you would like a whole lot more than me" she said "there's a witch, she's been in hiding for 5 years now and now you're here, we could actually let her out"
"Why could she be let out because of me?" Elijah asked, confused on the proposition at hand
"Well" Sophie fiddled around with her fingers as she spoke "we need you to protect her; for now she is alright because she cloaked and hidden away, the guy she is hiding from isn't here, but when he does come back. Which he will. We need your help"
"why is this girl such a concern of yours and Marcel's?" Elijah wasn't too sure if he wanted to bare such a burden this early in his return.
"Well; she's my cousin for starters and when Daniel comes back in search for her, she's the closest you're going to get of a weapon against him"
"And I knew her parents" Marcel shrugged "they were good people, it was a shame they died so early"
"Come on Elijah, please this is a big deal" Sophie pleaded "you would literally have a witch in your pocket, you'll use her just as much as she would use you"
Elijah hesitated. He still wasn't too sure however having a private witch on his side would come in handy from time to time when he needed things done.
"What about Niklaus?" He asked one last question before he made his mind up.
"Niklaus protecting a witch?" Marcel scoffed "he'd just drive her to an early grave; this is a serious matter"
Elijah sighed in annoyance. How did they even function without him? "Fine" he said causing Sophie to flash a smile to Marcel. "her name?"
"She's called Sasha" Marcel patted him on the back "and we're going to fetch her"
