Kalani's POV:

We'd been in the story for about 25 minutes because I couldn't decide which ice cream I wanted. Nick was beyond aggravated but I ignored his constant whining about me hurrying up and just picking one.

"Kalani Valentina! Pick one and bring your ass on. We've been standing here for like three hours." He groaned and leaned against our buggy. I just waved him off and continued looking at all my options.

"I told you to wait in the car." I mumbled as I picked up a box of caramel ice cream bars.

"And I told you I wasn't about to let you walk around like that without me. You're too damn fine to walk around without some security." I giggled and looked up at him.

"You're my security now?" I asked, smirking.

"Always have been. Now, pick something so we can get out of here. I don't like being in one place for this long." I realized he was probably talking about the situation we were in. I guess he's right about me taking so long.

I looked over all my options one last time before grabbing a tub of caramel drizzle and orange cream popsicles. I tossed them in the buggy before moving towards Nick and wrapping my arms around his.

"Is there anything else we should grab while we're here?" I asked as he started pushing the buggy.

"Grab your skittles. You'll be whining about getting some tomorrow." He said as we made our way to the checkout line.

"You go ahead and I'll get them really quick." I said before moving towards the candy aisle. It was just two aisles away from the checkout line so I knew Nick wouldn't be worried about me going by myself.

I walked down the aisle, looking through all the candy to find my skittles. I already have like six bags of them but they were all the original kind. I wanted some of the wild berry and sour kind.

I found some of the sour kind but I couldn't find the wild berry. Everything was in a different place so I couldn't tell where they would be. The original skittles were on the opposite end while the sour ones were in the middle on the bottom shelf. It was a mess.

"I love those things." I looked over to hear someone speak. There was a tall, dark haired man standing a few feet away from me. He looked hispanic and he had a strange tattoo on the side of his neck.

His eyes were dark brown and he had a slit in his left eyebrow. He was tall, maybe 6'4 or 6'5 and well built. His jaw was sharp, his nose straight. There was a scar above his right eyebrow that was about the length of a penny.

"Me too. They're my second favorite." I shrugged before turning back to look for the wild berry.

"Yeah. Nothing tops the original." He chuckled.

"Exactly! I can't find the wild berry kind though. The arrangement is so weird here." I said, mumbling that last bit. He hummed and reached down in her cart before pulling out a pack of wild berry skittles.

"Here. They're not over here for whatever reason. They're in the back of the store, which makes no sense but I don't ask questions." He said with a slight laugh.

"Are you sure? I don't want to take them if you really want them." I said quickly.

"You're good. I don't need them anyways." He said, smiling. I smiled back and took the pack from him.

"Thank you. I really appreciate it." I said, slowly stepping back so I could get back to Nick.

"No problem-Uh, what's your name? If you don't mind me asking." He said, tilting his head.
