Kalani's POV:

After taking several moments to collect myself and my very murderous thoughts I zipped my onesie back up and went back downstairs. Tristan was busy throwing away the wrapping paper, while Brandon and Austin whispered about something.

Nick was standing off to the side by the widow on the phone. He looked as if he was about to go into panic mode or something. His eyes kept shifting back and forth from the floor to the window then back again.

He was shifting from one foot to another and biting his lip. Things he only did when he was under some type of stress. Which doesn't really happen often because that man doesn't let anything bother him.

"It's his mom." I looked up hearing Tristan whisper in my ear.

"I thought he already talked to her earlier?" I asked, my gaze slowly drifting back towards Nick.

"He did. She called him again about 10 minutes ago. They've been on the phone the whole time. I don't think it's anything he's too happy about." Right.

That's so weird though. Nick rarely gets upset about things when they have to deal with his mom. He loves that lady to death. They don't talk much for reasons I just started to understand but he'd do anything for her.

"Do you know if she's okay?" Tristan shook his head before sliding his arm around my shoulders.

"She was fine earlier, but that was earlier." I hope everything is ok. I'd hate for Christmas to be dimmed with this sad encounter.

"Yeah ok. I'll let you know. I love you mom." Nick paused for a couple seconds before finally hanging up and sighing.

"Everything okay?" Brandon asked, handing Austin an armful of wrapping paper to throw away.

"Uh, yeah. My mom wants me to come and visit next month." Oh. That doesn't sound too bad.

"Ok...so why do you look like you're about to have a nervous breakdown?" Austin asked, confusion written all over his face.

"Cause I haven't seen my mom in months. I think I'm allowed to be a little worrisome about it." The way Nick's jaw ticked told me that it was more than just that. There was something he wasn't saying. Something he wasn't telling us.

"Tristan, did you already clean the kitchen?" I asked quickly. He shook his head and went to say something but I shook my head.

"Nick, come help me." He sighed but made his way into the kitchen anyways. I kissed Tristan's cheek before following Nick's footsteps and going into the kitchen.

He was leaned up against the sink staring absentmindedly at the floor. It was unnerving to see Nick so reserved and anxious. He was never like this.

"Nicky, tell me what's going on." I said. I decided to just stand in front of him because I didn't know if he wanted me to touch him or even be so close to him right now.

He uttered something under his breath before reaching forward and pulling me in by my waist. He held me close and kissed my forehead.

"What did you say?" I asked, tilting my head.

"I said you were standing too far." Figures.

"What's going on?" He bit his lip before he shrugged.

"She's coming back." What?

"Who?"

"Deliah. My mom's "friend", the one who...y'know." Oh shit.

"She's coming back and your mom wants you to come home to see her." He nodded and gripped my waist.
