Halfway Home

Henry was up since 5:00 in the morning with excitement, waiting for his baby sisters to come home. He climbs into his parents' bed. He sat next to his sleeping Mommy. Killian was in the hospital with the twins, who are being closely monitored off of oxygen. He jumped on the bed. "Mommy!"

Emma wakes up smiling at her son. "Hi, kid!" She hugs her son and tickles him.

Henry giggles. "Are sissys coming home today?"

"We will find out today, if they can. They are off their oxygen tubes, which is a good sign."

"Sissys home today." She kissed her son on the head.

Emma and Killian were in the NICU with their daughters who were being car seat tested to see if they can go home by the nurses and their doctor. Killian wrapped his arm around his swan who was nervous. "I hope they can come home with us finally."

"Me too, love. They have been here for a month."

"I am hoping Henry has been up since 5:00 am in excitement. I do not want to disappoint him..."

"Aye, the little lad has not held his sisters since a month ago."

Dr.Whale returns to the parents. Emma held hands and hook with Killian. "Sienna passed her car seat test. She can go home."

Killian smiles big. "Yes!"

"How about Hope?"

"She did not pass her car seat test. She needs to stay here for a little while longer for her lungs to develop."

Emma sighs. "Okay." Dr. Whale leaves.

Kiillian hugs his swan. "We know that Hope has more lung issues."
"I know. I just did not expect to bring one baby home, and one baby has to stay here."

"We will visit her every day but we will take turns because one of us will be home with Sienna and Henry."

"Henry will be happy to have one of his sisters' coming home."

The parents went to their daughters in the NICU. Sienna was being prepped by nurses, getting monitors and tubes out before she can leave. Sienna was wailing. Killian wrapped his daughter in her baby blanket. "Baby love, you are okay. You are coming home." He held his daughter. Sienna stops crying. He kissed his daughter on the head.

Emma was sad leaving Hope at the NICU, not coming home with them. She faced her daughter. "Hope." Hope turned around and faced her Mama. "Hi, baby girl." She gives her finger to hold, Hope grips it and coos. Emma smiles."I love you sooo much, baby duckling." Hope kicked her legs. "You will be coming home with us very soon." Hope smiles. She smiles at her daughter. "I love you so much, duckling."

Killian carried Sienna to her sister. "Sienna, say see you at home twin sis." Sienna coos. Hope coos back. "It is my turn to talk to our baby love."

"Okay. Hope, I will see you tomorrow. Be good for the nurses." Emma takes Sienna from Killian. "Sea-Sea, Hope will be home with us soon."

He faced his firstborn daughter. Hope is chewing her Papa's hook. "We are not leaving you behind baby love. Your lungs need to be stronger before you come home. Mommy and I will visit you every day. You will be home in no time." Hope gurgles. "I love you, Hope."

Emma sets Sienna in her car seat. Killian carried the diaper bag. The couple leaves the NICU with one of their daughters. Sienna began crying.

Allison sees one of her nieces leaving with Emma and Killian. "Emma."

"Hi." They hug. "Sienna is coming home today."

"That is great news." She faced the little one. "Sienna, you are going home." She faced her best friend. "Hope?"
