The boys followed Bruce as they took the brisk walk to the main entrance, Damian reluctantly following eyes still locked on the screen for what he hoped was an onset of texts.
Upon making it to the foyer the boys stood back in a line watching as Alfred held the door open for them, first entering an older woman with a bright smile on her face.
One Bruce gained upon seeing her, "Gina, what a lovely surprise, how are you?" He spoke going towards for a hug. She smiled at him "I've been well Bruce, I see somethings haven't changed" she spoke, eyeing the new residents of Wayne manor since her last visit.
"You remember Dick and Jason from your previous visits" he spoke as the two came up for a hug.
"Aunt Gina you should have told us you were coming" Dick spoke grinning as he hugged her even Jason seemed excited to see her. After all, she had been the one to teach him how to ride a motorcycle. The other two boys stood awkwardly behind watching their familiar interaction between them, not noticing a young woman slip behind the Gina woman.
"I want you to meet my other two sons, Tim and Damian," Bruce said, nodding to them to come closer, he turned to them and smiled introducing their "Aunt Gina".
Marinette's perspective:
I had slipped inwards after my grandmother taking a moment to draw a quick sketch of the front of the mansion, also using it as a chance to speak with Tikki.
When she had mentioned Alfred being vaguely familiar my emotions felt strange, worrying filling me as I began to come up with possible scenarios of how they could know each other.
But that was a later issue. I now had to meet nonna's friend's family entering through the large door I watched as she hugged two large men, both smiling eagerly at her. Like she was a long missed friend, they clearly knew her but the two boys who stood behind them stared confused at the interaction.
The younger of the two appeared to be around my age and the other slightly older. The younger one caught my eye. He had emerald green eyes that shone brightly against his tan skin, silky black hair combed to the side as he stared back at me. Smooth lips turned downward as he glimpsed at me.
Almost a look of familiarity on his face for a split second, then it changed to a scowl or something more of confusion. He glanced at me once more before turning to the adults in front of us.
"I want all of you to meet my little fairy, Marinette" nonna spoke as she put her arm around me and began introducing me to everyone. She went around the room stating names and how she knew them before finally landing at the youngest son.
"And this is Damian, he's your age so you too should get along just fine" she spoke a grin at her face as she lightly pushed me towards him.
Damian's perspective:
Todd and Grayson were happily talking to this strange woman even father was intently listening as she told some story of a recent adventure she'd gone on.
Turning back to my phone, I felt almost disappointed with still no new text present, it was always a possibility her flight got delayed or she had still yet to connect to the local internet.
Looking back up I saw a shorter woman, probably a teenager, walk in. She had dark black hair that almost appeared a navy blue, and had striking blue eyes reminding me of the ocean.
I could feel myself stare at her; she seemed familiar, almost recognisable, I'd seen a picture of her or someone similar though from what little I could recall it was a picture of a girl with her hair in a bun. Though I couldn't place from where.
As I took another glimpse I caught her eye, watching as she examined me before we both turned back to those in front of us.
Her grandmother finally noticed her appearance and introduced her to the rooms placing an arm around her shoulder she pulled her towards the centre of the room.
Smiling down at her she said "I want all of you to meet my little fairy, Marinette".
I could feel my body freeze, she had said Marinette, I could feel my breath falter and my heartbeat increase slightly. It was her.
The phone in my hand felt heavier for a moment as I watched the others get introduced to her one by one reaching, pulling her in for a hug or handshake.
She had no idea. But I knew.
She was the mysterious angel I had been speaking to for months yet she had no idea, no face to connect the name to.
I'd known who she was for months and even looked like, when I'd run a trace upon her first flurry of apology texts. An old school photo had appeared of her though her hair had been in a bun that day.
It felt strange seeing her yet not having her know who I was, a different kind of feeling not one of honour or protection like I felt towards the Robin mask.
But almost something similar to guilt.
When she finally turned to me, her eyes widened slightly at my name though whether or not she was sure who I was still unclear.
Hello all it's been a while, so as an apology here's an extra long chapter
I've had a very busy year and the chances of more frequent updates will be slim as school has inevitably gotten more hectic. But fingers crossed once exams are over a lot more updates will be coming your way. And thanking all of you for the support really encouraged me to finally update.
