A/N: What's up! I know I've written a bunch of Cole fics, but now I'm starting a Leon fanfiction. Anyway, I think I'll set this post Death Island. I'm new to all this, so if anyone seems out of character, that's why. I love how I get made fun of for not playing the games, but I only have a 15-year-old Wii that can only hold Mario Kart and Just Dance. I'm hoping to get a PlayStation so I can play them for Christmas 🤞🏾. This will also be a Chris X Leon fic cause I can 🤪, don't slam me too hard lolll. I'm trying anyway, happy reading! Also Xxbittersweet_RoseXx I hope you enjoy as well! -Nico! *****************************************

Leon S Kennedy was the king of 'I'm fine's. He would say he was fine even if he wasn't. That always worried his partner, Chris. They had met back after the incident in Raccoon City had gone down, when Chris's sister Claire had sent Leon an email asking if he could find Chris. Leon had only been a rookie cop at the time, but they did manage to track him down. Leon didn't remember much after that since he was bleeding from the gunshot wound Ada had given him.
Then came Chris asking for Leon's help while Leon was on vacation and was pretty drunk, but he decided to help anyway. After they survived that B.O.W., Chris had finally made a move, asking if Leon wanted to go and get some breakfast with him, and Leon never turns down breakfast, which led them to now, both Leon and Chris returning home, both from different missions yet same arrival time. It had started with a headache, which was normal for Leon since he never really slept when he was away. collapsing into the couch, not even caring that he was covered in grime and blood, fell into a fitful sleep.
*nightmare/flashback to Raccoon City September 30th, 1988*
It started all the same, being late as hell on his first day and waking up to a call telling him to stay away, flashing forward to him running from zombies to finding Claire, and having to put most of his colleagues down as they had changed. He tried every solution, but it all ended the same way, with him turning and being unable to escape the city before the government wiped it off the map. Claire and Sherry were wondering where he was, and seeing the heartbreak in their eyes, once they saw that he didn't make it out. The feeling of being burned alive and the scent of burning flesh of these people who were once living made him sick to his stomach.
Jolting awake, panting and shaking, Leon looked wildly aroundthe room, staying put and listening to see if there were any groans of infected nearby. He stayed like that until Chris unlocked the apartment door to see Leon staring at nothing, his blue eyes glazed over with only what Chris could describe as a fever. " Lee? What's going on? What do you see?" he asked gently as not to freak Leon out, and slowly guide him out of a flashback or a PTSD episode. It hadn't been easy at first, being startled awake in the middle of the night to Leon crying out, then in the morning acting like nothing happened.
The look Leon had given him was heartbreaking. He looked so shattered and broken with all that had happened, caught up to him. Rushing to the couch at the same time, Leon stood up and almost fell over, catching himself on Chris's arm. "Babe, you're burning up! " Chris exclaimed, which was apparently the wrong thing to say since Leon was still in a flashback of the Raccoon City outbreak. Breaking out of the hug, Leon scurried backwards as if he had just been burned. The headache he had earlier came back, but ten times worse than he'd ever felt one. Rushing into the bathroom with his hand over his mouth made it to the bathroom before everything he'd eaten came back up, feeling like a pressure had been let up did Leon manage to get a good breath in before the whole cycle started again ( trust me guys, i had a stomach bug like this back in april and it was god awful, lmao)
Hearing the soft cries from Leon, Chris immediately ran towards the bathroom where Leon was. "Leon? Is it okay if I come in? Everything is okay, you're not there anymore, you're here with me in our apartment," Chris coaxed gently as if talking to a scared animal, which in this case was Leon. Opening the door, Chris immediately opened the door, running and fell on his knees next to Leon. Upon Chris entering the bathroom, Leon had fallen unconscious, thinking it was a great idea to rest on the floor, not hearing the calls of his boyfriend on the other side of the door, as everything went dark. Waking up, though, was a whole different rodeo; it hurt like hell, and Leon knew what that felt like.
" Hey, you back with me?" Chris asked as Leon opened the pretty blue eyes Chris had fallen in love with. Goraning, Leon tried to sit up only to get dizzy and almost faceplant into the toilet seat, " mhm 'm here," Leon slurred, trying to get a coherent thought out, but his brain wasn't exactly working at the time. " Listen, I'm going to call Rebecca so she can see what's up." Chris notified Leon as he was finally able to sit up without feeling the need to pass out anymore.
Giving Leon a glass of water, Chris grabbed his phone, clicking on Rebecca's contact, telling her what was going on and what Leon's symptoms were. But while doing that, he could hear the water making a reappearance. quickly hanging up the phone, he rushed to Leon's side once again. This went on for the better half of the night until Rebecca came with almost a whole pharmacy with her, including Jill and Claire. Carrying Leon to the couch, Rebecca set up an IV while Chris got Leon all comfortable on the couch.
"How long has he been like this?! she exclaimed, "I don't know. We both came back from missions, and I found him on the couch just out of it before the vomiting started." Chris informed. Taking Leon's hand while the fever shivers took over his body, Jill walked over and placed her hand on Chris's back, not saying anything, just making sure her presence was there. No matter the amount of fluid they pushed through the I.V., Leon just couldn't keep it down. Everyone was keeping vigil with Chris, not wanting him to have to deal with his emotions and thoughts alone.
Several times Leon woke up, and he kept thinking he was in Raccoon City, with Claire there. She was able to talk him back to reality, but everyone could see the broken look he had in his eyes. It was the same look Chris had described to Rebecca on the phone. At some point, Jill ran to go and get food for the rest of the gang. Chris doesn't know if he could eat anything right now. Rebecca had given Leon something to help with the vomiting, and so far it seemed to be working, as the frown lines on Leon's forehead had gone away.
It was around midnight when Leon finally came too. The first thing he noticed was the pinch of the I.V. line, then the rest of his senses followed. "What'd I miss?' he asked jokingly as he sat up, making sure not to pull the needle out (he'd done that before and it is not fun). Everyone stopped what they were doing to stare at Leon like he had risen from the dead, which he kinda did if they were being honest. " What all do you remember, Leon? You've been knocked out for a while." Chris asked with worry clear in his eyes. " I remember passing out in the bathroom, but nothing much after that, if I'm being honest," Leon admitted. The blush on his cheeks had nothing to do with the fever.
Finally feeling like he could take a breath, Chris eased himself into the chair next to Leon, "Well, Rebecca gave you the good stuff so you could start holding down water and stuff to help hydrate you," Chris explained, knowing even if Leon was mostly out of the fever haze, his trauma with everything that has happened to the two of them was still there. " it seemes like he's out of the woods for right now, iv'e written down instructions if he ends up getting worse again and to call me." Rebecca smiled sweetly, turning to the couple, signaling the girl's departure. After they all left, Leon lay back down, as being awake and sitting up took all his energy. " You know, being sick with people who care doesn't suck so bad." Leon randomly spoke up, giving Chris that lopsided smirk that Chris had fallen in love with.
It took a few days, but Leon was finally getting better and able to hold solid food down. A few days later, he got his energy back. " Hey Leon, going back to what you said, being sick with caring people. Did you really mean that?" Chris asked out of curiosity, as they hadn't gone back to that conversation since Leon had gotten better. "Yeah, I really did mean it, I mean, after the whole death island thing, I feel like our group has turned into a family of some sort. I mean, kinda dysfunctional, but it works, if you know what I mean." Leon replied, deep in thought.
Slowly but surely, he would open up about the horrors he'd seen and what went down in Raccoon City on his first day. His first instinct was to run, but not with Chris and definitely not with the other three. ***************************************** So, this is my longest fic yet. I hope you all enjoyed this one! Lemme know what other fictional men I can put through the wringer and if there any repeats of any you really like! Until next time! -Nico
