The First One...

Chapter 1

"Sammy, get ready...We have twenty minutes to leave..Hurry up!!" Ana was babbling downstairs.

Ughhhh!! I'm so not in the mood to go. I am not even dressed yet!.. Ohh god help me!!.. This day couldn't get any worst. If it weren't for those two bestfriends of mine, i would have never agreed to go with them not specially after a day like today.

Today, the day which i awaited for the whole last year, i worked so hard for. The day i thought i would be getting promoted from Team Leader to the post of Head of the Finance Department in BS International.

This day turned out to be the worst day till now. Ummhumm..guess what??..I didn't got promotion. Inspite of being eligible and completed all the requirements for that post.

Okay...Then who?..yeah..who? Veronica...she got it ..Veronica Grey, just because she was associated with higher management she got promoted. She hasn't even completed 2 years in this department which was one of the requirements for the post...okay i agree she completed 1 year and 11 months, so just one month short...still!! I think i deserved it better as i am working in that department for last two years three months and in this company for now three freaking years!

I am a Finance graduate with MBA degree in Finance as well. Yes, i was quiet good at studies,
and my generous nature helped me to get along with everyone at work. Though i didn't not take shit about what other people think about me. I know what i want in my career and i am totally focused on it.

Yes, i agree at times i am strict with my team obviously i have to be but my team is more supportive which is a plus point. Even through this 'not getting promotion' thing they all were very caring and cheering me up today.

Thank god it was Friday!!! I don't have to look at them and earn the pity looks for another two days.

I was in my thoughts when there was a knock on the door, i immediately knew who it must be.

"Sammy, come on girl where are you..open the door."

Here she comes....

"Sops, i am not ready, i'm soooo not in the mood now." i replied burying myself in pillow.

"Aww honey, will you open the door?.....Pleeeeaaaase!!" she said in her innocent voice. I knew she must be tapping her foot impatiently and in few seconds my door would be banging like hell.

I thought for a moment...

Sops aka Sophie is my dearest one. Maybe she could help me with this situation.

"Fine. Wait a sec!"

I sprinted off the bed and opened the door and there stood my bestfriend number one Sophie D'mello with all the world's worry on her face. She is the closest friend i have since nursery. We haven't been seperated since then.

I sighed.

"Hey Sops. Come in." I mumbled while i turned around to sit on the extra couch in my room.

"Hey, what's wrong? I thought you agreed to come with us."

"Yeah..but after what happened today at work, I'm just not willing to go."

"Ohh..come on! Don't be such a spoil sport, you will get promoted sooner or later."

I was just staring at her..i don't know what i am going to do and that surely is freaking me out!...Ohh god help me, i surely need to think about my plans again.

"Sammy, are you even listening to me? Earth to Sammy!"

I looked at her startled. I've got this bad.

"Sorry i was distracted."

She sighed but took my hand.

"Okay look, didn't you said that you liked your team a lot and they are very much into you. So think about it, this year you haven't got it but maybe next year you will and besides you will be with your team for another one year, so it's a good thing right?.. and weren't you thinking of completing some certificate course? You told me about it a month back, remember? You can also do that and if you complete it you can add that to your qualification right?"

Damn!!

There goes Sophie!...she knew about what i thought..i sooo love her for this, I almost forgot about that course i was planning few months back.

Uff..i am such a douche. Maybe another year couldn't be that bad.

I smiled at her.

"Yeah..i think you are right. I almost forgot about that certificate course. I love you for this Sops. I am definitely feeling better now."

She smiled like a baby and hugged me..

"You know i am always there for you right? I love u too sweety. Now get ready we don't have long." She squealed smacking the back of my head like i am a kid. I rolled my eyes getting up.

"Okay..but i am not sure what to wear since you both didn't tell me where exactly we are going." I narrowed my eyes at her.

"Umm..wait.." she said nervous all of a sudden.

She went to my wardrobe and rustled through it and finally after a full long five minutes picked a knee length dark blue dress with a deep V cut in back.

"Here..this will do."

I took it from her with a confused expression, she understood what that meant.

"Umm..we are going for a party at umm..a..umm.. club tonight..and i don't want to listen to your drama of 'i don't like to go to club' and blah blah..so get ready!! You have just 10 minutes.."

and with that before i could speak anything she sprinted out of my room.
There was no point arguing and i do feel i need some drink in my system after today.

I got dressed with minimum makeup just mascara and eyeshadow with light lipstick. I chose one of my favorite stilettos matching with my dress and saw myself in the mirror.

This is ME..

25, Proudly and WILLINGLY Single, with 5.7 height which most of my friends envy, beautiful skin with natural blush on my cheeks, medium hazel eyes, long brown hair with mix of black which i have put up in a side bun today and in a very good shape, curves at the right places. I look good not to fancy but...Good.

I chose a matching clutch and filled it with my celphone, some cash and card. I was ready to go..

Okay looks good..lets do it!

I went down in the living room of our apartment. Ana and Sops both were waiting for me..

"You look beautiful Sammy. Actually, we all look stunning..." Ana beamed clapping.

"Okay then. Let's go girls and have some real crazy fun. Let's hit the party!!"

We all laughed at Ana's enthusiasm and went out to our car.
