I got in the car and sat in the back seat. I had to sit in the middle of my younger brother and sister, so I figured I was going to scream in there ears to shut up right when we drove out of the drive way.
But today wasn't just a regular day. We were taking a trip to Colorado. Everyone was excited to go. This will be the fourth state I've visited.
In the middle of the ride, my brother was playing on his DS, my sister was looking at a map of Colorado, and I was listening to music on my Ipod. An activity any normal 7th grader would prefer.
We were about to cross the border when my sister started frantically tapping me on the shoulder. I thought she just wanted to show me something she found on the map or something stupid. I ignored her and kept my headphones on. I heard her screaming something, but didn't really care about that either. Finally, she just pulled my headphones off me. "Hey, I was listening to that!" I shouted. Before she got to say anything, we jerked forward. I turned around and saw a car smashed into our car. The back window was shattered. At first I couldn't feel it, but once I did, I started to scream.
We were spinning off the road.
"Guys, hold on!" My mom said in a panicked voice. She was trying to control the car, but whatever she was doing wasn't working. Another car smashed into my left side, causing our car to flip over. It fell hard onto the road upside down. We were all panicked. My dad tried to calm us down. "It's okay guys, we're going to be o-" before he could finish, another car smashed into the car, and the whole world went dark.
~~~~~~~time skip about 5 hours~~~~~~~~~
I woke up to the sound of beeping. I heard people talking and footsteps somewhere in the room I was in. I opened my eyes a little more, but my vision was blurred. I rubbed my eyes and waited until I could see clearly. There was a man in a white coat. Probably the doctor. I thought to myself. He walked over to me and started to talk to me. "It's okay, your in the hospital. You got a severe head injury that we had to fix. Now, can you tell us your name?" I was still really confused. "Um, yeah. It's Kala Greenfield."
"Okay, your in 7th grade right?"
"Yes."
"Do you remember anything that happened just now?"
There were so many questions. I didn't even know how I got my head injury. I suddenly felt my head start to hurt. I touched the back of my head and felt weird things on it. The doctor must've seen my confused face. "It's okay, they're just stitches. They'll be out of there in no time." I laid back down and closed my eyes to try to remember what just happened. I couldn't remember anything that happened a while ago. Instead of remembering what happened, I remembered I was tired. I got comfortable and fell asleep.
