In Love With The Enemy

Chapter 49- Checkmate

It seemed like the oncoming Squids were endless. For each Squid they killed, two more took its place; well that's what it felt like to Sky and Deadlox.

They were still being circled by Squids when Fire had left them after the sword exchange. But now that Sky had his butter sword and Deadlox had Fire's flame sword, things were running a lot smoother.

The two managed to make a break in the circle of squids and ran past them, they were free to help with the actual battle again.

"I thought EnderFire was meant to be evil?" Sky asked Deadlox as they fought side by side.

Deadlox shrugged and stabbed a squid, melting its insides with the swords amazing perks. "EnderFire was meant to be evil, I don't know what happened. Maybe Fire can control it now?"

"That girl can't control anything Deadlox. Not her alter ego, her jealousy, nothing" Sky retorted and shook his head.

"That girl is your sister. What the hell happened to the Sky I used to know? The one who wouldn't turn his back on anybody?!"

"That Sky was weak, that Sky left when his fiancée was murdered by his sister!" Sky yelled at his friend, viciously waving his sword around and taking off the head of a Squid.

Deadlox shook his head, he couldn't believe what he was hearing. Sure he had noticed that the King had changed, but he never thought that he would turn his back to someone of his own blood.

Meanwhile, Mitch and Wonder were located in a tree sniping down Squids that tried to hide in the forest for whatever reason they might have. When Mitch first used the bow Fire lent him, the squid that it hit screeched in pain and burnt to ashes within minutes. Even Wonder was shocked at what Mitch just did with the bow in his hands.

"That's Fires... Is she...?" Wonder asked quietly.

He shook his head "She lent it to me, said something about me having a much better shot then her. Don't worry she's not... You know."

Talking about Fire behind Fire's back didn't feel right to Wonder, but she was greatful that this time they weren't discussing extinguishing her- wiping her out of existence.

The fight was going alright for everyone on Sky Kingdom's side. They were overwhelmed by the amount of squids but they were holding up very well.

Jade and Seto were stationed on the wall that surrounded the castle, casting out spells to guard the Kingdom and to fight the squids.

Seto wasn't taking any chances, not when the two had to prevent three deaths now instead of two. "How are you doing Jade?"

"I'm fine, quit asking. It's like the third time you've asked me in the last 5 minutes!"

"I know I'm just making sure" Seto defended himself.

"Yeah well why don't you quit asking me and start asking Sky Kingdom. This could be its second fall after all!"

"Okay, okay, sorry."

The tension was high and Fire could feel it. Both sides battling it out, but King Sky's side had two elemental users on its side, except the water user's power wasn't going to harm the squids.

EnderFire had chosen not to fly, but to walk and help take out the squids from the floor and not the skies. Swords swung at her and she defended herself against them, clashing sounds ringing out loud in her ears. She was able to flick squids away from behind with her wings and was able to stop squids from attacking others by setting them alight.

Fire knew that once this war was all over she would have a few confessions to make, wether she was looking forward to that she didn't quite know.
