After The Storm *Kakashi Hatake* (Naruto Fanfiction)

Chapter 2

My eyes slowly opened and I stared up at an all white ceiling. There was an annoying beeping noise to my left and glancing over, I saw one of those heart monitor things connected to a tube in my wrist. I blinked in confusion, I know that I’m in a hospital, probably in Konoha, but I don’t understand why. The ninja or Hokage should be able to tell who I am; I should’ve been persecuted.

My name is Yokina Washi, meaning bubbly eagle, a weird coincidence I suppose, due to the tailed beast inside of me. I was named Yokina because of my once happy-go-lucky nature, but after all that’s happened I rarely act like that anymore. I don’t talk to people that much anyway, and I haven’t gotten to know anybody in a while, but when I do speak, I usually come off as emotionless.

Anyways, to most I am Sode, A.K.A. wings due to the fact that I usually get away because of them. That’s the name that other bounty hunters call me, and that’s the name used in the bingo book. (The book filled with wanted criminals.)

The door to the room slid open, breaking me away from my thoughts. I looked up to see a doctor, some anbu and jonin, and the Hokage walk in. My eyes narrowed as they circled the bed. The doctor gave my diagnosis, speaking to everyone. He stated that I had broken my wrist and some ribs, and fainted from exhaustion, also that I was a good deal under weight, and I didn’t have enough sleep, which would lessen my stamina and chakra, and is probably why I’d landed where I did, the way I did.

By now my eyebrows were scrunched together and I had a frown on my face. I tensed and was about to prepare to get away. But, when I moved there was a stabbing ache in my side and I almost cried out in pain, instead making a sharp intake of breath. Everyone turned to me, the doctor rushed over and slowly helped me lay down again, telling me in a hushed voice not to move around too much. The Hokage’s and ninja’s faces all took on a suspicious and cautious expressions.

The Hokage pulled up a chair and smiled at me. He’s an old man... I’m surprised he’s still Hokage. He started asking me questions, and since he seems friendly, and at the moment I didn’t feel threatened, I decided to answer some of the questions.

He started off with asking if I truly was Sode, and I gave a small nod in reply. He then went on with the interrogation.

“Then, Sode, may I ask why you were found in our land?” he asked.

I thought about if I should tell him or not, and decided that it wouldn’t matter if I did, I’d probably still be punished in some way, maybe even executed, so I answered him truthfully with, “I was running away from ninja in pursuit of me. When I was in the air I hadn’t noticed my depleted chakra amount due to my panicked state, and couldn’t control my landing, I hadn’t planned on being found here.”

He nodded then said, “So you didn’t come here to harm or kill my people?”

I shook my head, my brows furrowing, and then turned away while closing my eyes.

I murmur in reply, “It's not like I kill for fun," angry that these people have grown to see me like this... like a monster. 

The Hokage glanced at the ninja around him and they all exchanged a silent agreement. “To confirm what you’re saying is true, we will wait until you are healed, then we'll perform a mind reading jutsu. You’re fate will be decided afterwards,” he said in a serious tone. I nodded understanding his decision. He then rose and all of the people in the room left, he assigned an anbu outside of my door, and a jonin in my room, to keep guard.

            I sighed as I mulled over in my head whether or not to run when I was healed enough or stay for them to decide what to do for me.

I finally came up with a decision: I was going to stay. I’d been running for so long, and my body just couldn’t seem to take it anymore. I hated that I’d had to become a murderer to survive, and I no longer wanted to live that life. Whether or not I died didn’t matter to me anymore. It was up to the Hokage to decide now.
