After The Storm *Kakashi Hatake* (Naruto Fanfiction)

Chapter 8

We’ve been walking for a while now, nothing much has happened. Naruto’s been talking a lot and the old man has been questioning our ability to protect him. So far I’ve focused everything I have in me, on ignoring them. I started humming, feebly trying to block out the noise.

“You have a nice voice," Sakura complements, coming over to walk next to me.

“Thank you," I say quietly with a small smile.

After a couple of more minutes we pass trees, grass, more trees, puddle, some birds, even more trees…. Wait a second… puddle! It hasn’t rained in many days… there wouldn’t be puddles now. I keep my guard up and stay silent. Suddenly metal chains wrap around Kakashi and he is cut into pieces… but I know it’s a substitution. I quickly go for one and start using taijutsu. I pull out a kunai and stick it through a chain link and run with it, wrapping it around the guy. I use a wind style jutsu that causes him to crash into a tree. I knock him out with a strong kick to the head. I turn to find Sakura defending Tazuna, and Sasuke defending the both of them. Naruto stands off to the side, trembling and has a cut on his hand. I silently curse and run over. Sasuke sweeps the guys feet and I kick the dude into the air. Then punch him hard into the ground. I do my water jet jutsu then perform my lightning style: dancing wolves jutsu. He’s electrocuted, knocked out and I tie him up with the other guy.

Kakashi then comes out and both Naruto and Sakura yell, “Kakashi-sensei! You’re alive!”

“Sorry I didn’t come out sooner, I didn’t expect Naruto to freeze up like that... Sasuke, Sakura you did well in defending Tazuna," he praises them, “You too Sode."

I scoff, “I don’t need your praise, baka," I say in reply, murmuring to myself.

Then, we focus on Naruto’s wound.

“There’s poison”, I state.

“We’ll have to go back to the village and get that checked out, this mission is no longer C-rank”, Kakashi says while glaring in suspicion at Tazuna. He then goes into a lecture/talk with Tazuna and are interrupted by Naruto stabbing his wound. He makes a vow to get stronger and not freeze next time, etc.. etc... as he extracts the poison.

“That’s all fine and dandy Naruto, but if you don’t stop the bleeding soon, you’ll die of blood loss," Kakashi states bluntly, in a bored tone.

         Naruto starts spazzing out, but his wound heals quickly and we keep walking. I’m suspicious of Naruto, I have a hunch they’re all hiding something about him… and I think I know what it is…

The team decides to go ahead with the mission, though it could very well prove to be difficult. 

We walk a while, once we’re almost there I get a chill, and then I have a strange feeling in my gut.

            “Duck!” I yell suddenly as a sword comes flying over everyone’s heads and lands in a tree. Then a man lands on the sword.

“Hmmm, Kakashi of the sharingan; the famous copycat ninja," he muses, then looks over to me and his eyes widen slightly, “Ah, Sode…it’s been a while hasn’t it?”

“Zabuza….” I greet him with a stony glare.

“You know him?” Naruto asks looking over at me.

“...When I first became an S-rank criminal, and got my name in the bingo book, he’d go after me, trying to kill me for the bounty when hired by others," I informed him. 

“She’d always manage to escape with those wings of hers though," Zabuza said with annoyance clear in his voice.

I got into a fighting stance, and the battle commenced. Kakashi pulled up his headband revealing his sharingan, mist covered the area as Zabuza performed his ‘silent killing’ jutsu. I tapped into my demon’s chakra and used eagle eyes to try and see better. I made my way over to Tazuna and the others just in time; Zabuza’s sword was about to come down onto Tazuna’s head, but I jumped up and used my wing to block. I cried out in pain as blood poured from the large wound; the sword tip protruding through the wing.
