"I'm not okay. Nothing anyone can say is going to make me magically better. It just can't happen. This isn't a fairytale, no one is coming to save me... no one cares, Den." Lukas said, standing on the very edge of a high building. He had his back turned to the other male, and was ready to get it over with.

"But I care, Norge. I came to save you." Mathias responded, wide eyed and worried.

Lukas sighed, and moved a bit to face Mathias. "What does it matter anyway? You don't care like I care." He muttered, stepping backwards towards the edge. He chuckled quietly, pain and hurt flashing over his face.

"What do you mean..? Please... don't." Mathias was crying by then, staring over into Lukas' cold lavender eyes. His expressionless face revealed no emotion, though Mathias had seen the brief moment of pain.

"I want you to be happy. I want you to forget about me, and live your life without worry. I'm a burden." Lukas said, taking another small step backwards.

Mathias' voice cracked as he responded. "No you're not. You're my best friend."

"And that's all I am to you. It's not enough, i'm sorry... i'm too far gone. Just let me do it." Lukas broke eye contact, looking up at the stars one last time.

"No. I'm not going to let you."

"But why? Why not? I'm done. I'll finally be happy."

"Because I love you."

There was silence between the two for a moment, before Lukas stepped forward. He collapsed onto the ground, head in his hands, sobbing. Mathias carefully walked up to Lukas, tears streaming from his eyes as he knealt down next to him.

"I love you. Please don't leave me." The Dane whispered, wrapping his arms around the other male. Lukas continued to sob, pressing his face into Mathias' chest.

They stayed that way for a few minutes, before Mathias slowly stood up, holding Lukas in his arms. He carried the smaller male back down the flights of staircases, to their hotel room.

The Norwegian clung tightly to his Danish friend, not even letting go when Mathias tried to set him down on the bed.

"Norge, it's alright i'm not going to leave you." Mathias said, sniffling. He wiped tears from his eyes, and hugged the other nation tightly.

"You better not leave me. I love you. I love you so much." Lukas responded between sobs. "I'm so torn. I've hated my life... but i've always hoped you would love me back one day. That last world meeting put me over the edge, and I couldn't stand the wait anymore. I was done. I'm sorry."

Mathias listened, feeling sad that Lukas had hated his life so much. "When I saw the note, I felt like my heart had been ripped out. I ran up the stairs hoping that you hadn't done anything yet." He said, holding the other nation close.

"I should have done it."

"No! Stop it! I can't live without you, you've been my lifeline through everything. I wake up every morning smiling, because I know that I get to see you. I stay positive because I know that you're alive and alright. I know we've had ups and downs in our friendship... and I think that maybe we should try something new."

"And what would that be?" Lukas asked, sounding sullen.

"I say we try something more like a romantic relationship."

Lukas lifted his head up slowly to look at Mathias. Deep lavender eyes met baby blue ones, as they shared a silent moment.

"I- I- think that sounds... great." Lukas whispered, leaning forward slightly. He wrapped his arms gently around Mathias' neck. The Danish nation got the hint, and leaned forward as well, tilting his head slightly.

Their lips met with invisible fireworks going off, both of them melting at the touch of the other. It was a gentle yet passionate kiss, full of unspoken words, and love. When they finally pulled away, something had shifted between them for the better.

"I love you.... I... won't ever try to do that again." Lukas spoke first, looking ashamed of himself for what he had tried to do.

"I love you too, and i'll make sure you'll never feel the need to try that again." Mathias replied, brushing a stray strand of hair from Lukas' forehead. He kissed his cheek, and gave him a happy hug.

"Thank you." Lukas whispered, tears beginning to pour from his eyes once more. "Thank you for everything."
