You broke up a while ago now, yet it's all people could talk about still. Not your friends. They didn't bother you guys about it, but people who barely knew you? They had a million questions the minute they saw one of you. Specifically you.

It wasn't like you had problems with eachother, you both just needed some time to figure things out and find out where both of your lives were going. She said that if you were right for eachother, then there would be a time that was right for you to get back together, and you agreed. So that was that.

Obviously you missed her, but things happen, and it's not like you could alter it right away. Besides, you knew she was your person, and you were hers. She knew it too. You just needed a little bit of time. But people just loved to start rumours. And today was one of those days.

You decided to hang out with some mutual friends at one of their places since you thought it'd be nice to hang out for a bit. They'd invited quite a few people over. Not a party, but definitely a small gathering. It was fun for a while, but then you started noticing some stares. From people you knew. You tried to ignore them at first. You tried to forget about them. But it was too difficult. They wouldn't stop.

They were close enough to where you could hear them whispering. Faintly. About the breakup. Of course. About you. Your looks. Because you were clearly nothing more than something for people to gossip about.

Tears welled up in your eyes, but you tried to blink them away. But they didn't stop. You knew you were about to cry if you didn't leave, so you thought about it for a minute before standing up.

"I'm just gonna go to the bathroom really quick." You put on a small, fake smile as you spoke quietly.

Your friends nodded before you turned and rushed towards the bathroom. The second you'd turned away from them, the tears came back and your smile dropped. You immediately locked the door, then sat on the floor with your back against the wall as tears slowly slid down your cheeks.

The tears fell faster and quiet sobs left your mouth as you recalled every comment they said about you. You didn't want to be too loud. You were still sobbing into your hands when you heard a knock on the door.

"Hey, are you good?" One of your friends spoke.

You sniffled and wiped your face, then answered.

"I'm okay, I'll be out in a minute." Except your voice was wobbly, and you'd obviously been crying.

"No cmon, can you open the door and tell me what's going on? Please? You know I'm here, I've got you."

You couldn't stop the tears that rushed down your cheeks once again. You wanted to escape from all of this. You wanted her. You didn't know what to do. Your breathing picked up and your heart raced faster. You knew what was going on. You were about to have a panic attack.

You'd had them plenty of times before, but never knew how to calm yourself down. Not quickly anyway. You usually just sat there and let it play out until you felt better. She was the only one who knew how to instantly calm you down. But she wasn't here. And those random people were probably right. She deserved somebody better.

You didn't answer your friend. You just allowed yourself to sob louder and breathe heavier. You couldn't speak even if you wanted to. You were too worked up. You didn't notice that your friend had walked away, you only realised when she came back, this time with your other friend beside her also trying to help from the other side of the door.

"Is there anything we can do at all? Anything that could possibly help?"

You sniffled a few times as your breathing stuttered.
