Chapter 34

The group met at Avu's house in the evening to check up on Jai and Reem. All of them were seated in the living room except Avu and Preeti who were bringing some snacks from the kitchen.

Jai: Mera pair ab theek ho gya hai. Ab toh chal pa rha hoon aaram se.

Pandit: Toh phir aaj college kyu nhi aaya?

Jai: Subha tak halka dard tha. Ab theek ho gya hai.

Anu: Reem, ab teri tabiyat kaisi hai? Subah fever tha na tujhe?

Reem smiling awkwardly: Maine medicine leli aur theek ho gya fever.

Avu and Preeti placed two bowls of chips on table for everyone yo eat.

Anu to Reem: Aaj college mein English ka project mila hai. Tu, mai, Jaan aur Faiz ek group mein hain.

Reem: Raj?

Raj: Group sirf chaar logo ka ban sakta tha. Toh mai alag group mein hoon.

Vaish: Tumlog sab yeh baat mat bhulna Diwali aa rhi hai.

The juniors groaned.

Jaan: Kya perfect time h project dene ka. Humesha festivals ke time hi kyu dena hota hai inko project?

Preeti: Kal sab Diwali shopping ke liye chale kya?

Ashi: Dekhte hain kal time hua toh.

The next day after the college ended Ashi and Swati were making a list about what to shop for Diwali while sitting on their living room couch.

Ashi: Fairy lights toh zaruri hai aur diye bhi.

Swati: That's a necessity.

Ashi: Mehendi.

Swati: Ha. Kapdo ki shopping kabhi aur krenge toh aaj unko list mein include nahi krte.

Ashi: Tab toh phir overall list ready hi hai.

Swati: Aaj hi chalte hai. Sahi rhega.

Ashi: Safai bhi start krni hai. Aur shopping ek din mein toh hogi nhi.

As if the on cue Mundit came and sat beside them.

Swati to Mundit: Tum dono safai start kr lo ghar ki aur hum Diwali ki shopping kr ke aayenge.

Munna: Par hum dono akele kaise krenge? Humesha toh hun chaaro saath kaam krte hai na?

Ashi: Please. Aise mana mat kro.

Munna: Fine Minnie.

Within minutes Swati and Ashi left the house to shop for Diwali necessities.

The girls came back home after 3 hours and the scene infront of their eyes was not the best. The living rooms carpet were messily placed on the couch which was stuffed between a room's door. Soap water was splattered all over the floor and Jai's tshirt was covered with it too.

Swati puzzled: Jai tu yaha kya kr rha hai?

Jai: Mai help karne aaya tha.

Mundit and Deep came out of a room with bucket of water, mop and wiper.

Ashi: Deep tum bhi?

Deep: Tum log tension mat lo. Hum sab saaf kr denge.

Munna: Yeh dono free the isiliye yeh log humari help karne aaye the. Mai sach bol rha hoon yeh sab Jai ki wajah se hua hai.

Jai: Maine kya kiya?

Pandit: Tu phisla isi wajah se pani ki bucket giri.

Swati angrily: 30 mins de rhi hoon tum logo ko. Yeh sab saaf kro warna....
