Chapter 13.

Zayn's POV

"How much longer do you think it will take to find this resistance."

"Not much, Liesa. Maybe another day or two."

"Seriously? I thought it would take like a few hours. Not a day or two!! I am so sick of walking," Liesa complained.

"Oh my god, shut up! We have only been walking for 2 hours," Skye yelled.

I could tell Liesa was really tired. I don't believe she did much of the hunting, or fishing, or anything that had to do with outside. She always seemed to stay inside.

"Liesa, come here," I waved her over to me, "jump on my back. Ill carry you."

"Oh no, it's fine. Ill be fine!"

"No. You keep complaining and your lagging behind all of us. If you want to stay alive you might want to let me carry you," I chuckled a bit.

I crouched down slightly, as she jumped on my back. Her legs wrapped around my waist, and her arms locked around my neck, we began to walk.

It was a while before anyone said a word. The sun high in the sky. Beams of light dancer off the dirt floor. Birds chirping. So peaceful. I felt safe. Maybe a bit too safe.

Suddenly the warning sound for the hunt sounded.

The hunt has begun.

Skye threw Liesa and I a knife.

Jarrod have Louis a cross bow, and Harry a retractable spear.

Skye walked over to Liam and handed him a gun, "Do not, I repeat do not use this unless its life or death. If you're about to die shoot it. If Lou, Harry, Zayn, or Liesa is about to die shoot it. Got it?"

"What about you? Or Jarrod? Or Niall?"

"We know how to kill. If we look like we are about to die.. We aren't. It's a tactic."

Her voice so serious. Like always. But I guess in times like these there's never time to just relax.

Everyone grew silent. Rustling leave in the distance sent off a huge red flag.

"Everyone in the trees," she called.

And like a pack of trained dogs we began to climb.

Perched in the tree we watched. I looked over to Skye, she gave me a signal to be quiet. And she pointed off in the distance as a smirk grew on her face. I've never seen her like this. So in her element.

Skye's POV.

I looked over at Jarrod and Niall. I nodded my head. I found out first target. One of those creatures casually walking in the forest.

I drew my bow back first, and Niall and Jarrod shortly after.

Looking at each other we nodded.

I let my arrow fly. Shooting it straight in the chest. Then Jarrod's arrow came second shooting it right in the mouth.

Niall withdrew his bow. Our first job was finished.

This tactic went of for a while. And it was good.

It became a sort of a game. We began to giggle and cheer. And we enjoyed it. Watching them fall, and Louis calling out how many points we got.

I let down my guard and just had fun. Laughing and joking.

Suddenly something from behind knocked me off my tree limb.

Knocked the wind out of me. I looked up. It was a creature.

"Shit."

I tried to get up. And began to run. But the creature was shortly behind me.

Pulling my bow back and letting the arrow fly.. And I missed.

It tackled me. I began to fight back.

Kicking it off me and pinning it down.

"I got you now," pulling my knife out of my pocket getting ready to kill. Then out of no where a gun shot was fired and hit my hand

"Damn it," I cringed in pain.

The bullet not killing the creature, I took my knife and slit it's throat.

Everyone came running to my side. I held my hand tightly.

"Someone hand me something to wrap my hand in."

Harry pulled out an old cloth from his backpack, and tightly tied it around my hand.

I stood up and brushed myself off. Walking over to Liam, I was pissed.

"What the hell was that Liam? I told you not to shoot," I punched him in the shoulder, "Are you just that stupid? Now look at my damn hand!" I shoved it in his face.

"I saved you," his face so serious.

"No you didn't! I had it under control. Now you've signaled to all those other freakish things where we are!"

"Skye," Jarrod placed his hand on my shoulder, "He saved you."

I looked away from Liam to see 2 creatures dead. From where I was earlier.

I turned back to Liam, his face still serious.

I began to look around, "Uhm... Well we need to get higher, before the rest of the creatures find us."

"I think it's too late for that," Harry said as we pointed to the left and right.

"Shit," I looked around to see about 15 creatures surrounding us.

I drew my bow back. Everyone was ready. But I knew.. This would be the death of one of us. Or maybe even all of us.
