Chapter 11

Skye's POV

I can't believe I'm leaving this place, I thought to myself.

Carefully packing my clothes into my backpack with some dried fruits and meats.

My heart broke at the thought of leaving. This was my safe haven. So many memories of my father and I.

I sit my bag on the bed.

"Finished," I whispered to myself.

I heard a slight knocking on the door from, "I think you're forgetting something."

I turn around to find Niall holding my fathers dog chain necklace.

He walked over to the bed and placed it around my neck, "Don't believe you'd want to leave that."

Looking up at him, he smiled.

"Thanks," lifting the silver tag to my sight.

"You loved him didn't you."

"What?" My head shot up.

"You're father, you guys must have been close."

He took a seat beside me.

"Yeah I really did," a slight chuckle left my lips.

"He would be real proud of you."

I knew in a way he would be. Using what he taught me to keep myself and others alive. Even the fact I'm leaving what we built behind. He would be proud. Because I'm doing what's best.

"So, when are we leaving," my eyes scanned the room, making sure not a single thing of importance was left.

"They said the sooner the better. So I guess tomorrow."

I hated the thought of leaving but it's what needed to be done.

The day went by slowly. Watching everyone pack away their things. Putting away the dried meats and fruit in their bag.

Soon night fall came as I lay on my mat beside Niall. Everyone was sound asleep. Everyone except for me.

"Ugh" I tossed myself to on side.

"Ugh" I flipped over to my other side.

"UGHHHHHHH," I sat up from my mat.

A light moan came from the mat beside me.

"Skye," Niall said in a bit of a Whiny voice mixed with his sleepy voice, "just because you can't sleep, doesn't mean you should keep me up."

Niall looked up at me, his eyes still bright blue even in the dark.

"Oh come here," Niall pulled me down into his arms.

I curled up against his chest and began to listen to the beating of his heart.

Slowly drifting to sleep, I was disturbed by a sound. A sound of rattling in the kitchen.

"Niall," I said in a hushed tone.

"I hear it too," Niall slowly let me go and grabbed his large knife he kept under his mat.

Getting up from my mat, I grabbed my bow and one arrow.

"Stay here. Watch everyone," I said to Niall as I quietly crept to the kitchen.

Turning the corner I seen it. One of the many creatures, in the kitchen.

Quietly drawing back my bow. I let it go and the arrow flew.

Closing my eyes for only a moment to pray it hit the target.

I look up when I hear my arrow make contact with something. Only, it didnt hit the creature. It hit the wall.

The creatures head shot up, it's glowing eyes meeting mine.

I stumble back searching for another arrow but non were found.

I began to trip over my own feet, due to panic.

Soon falling to my back.

The creature leaped forward to attack. Claws long, eyes glowing.

I knew this would be my last moment.

A small plea for help escaped my lips. Closing my eyes tight.

"No!" Someone yelled.

my eyes flew open as I felt a shape pain upon my left arm. Then hearing a loud thud.

Turning my head to the right, seeing Niall standing at the door way to the bedroom.

Turning my head to the left I see the creature with a knife to the head dead on the floor!

Feeling a sharp pain on my arm again. I clasped my hand on top of my bloody cut.

What just happened.

Nialls POV

I waited a moment as Skye left the room.

I didn't like the fact she went to go see what was making that noise alone.

Carefully getting up from my mat, knife in hand I slowly opened the door.

I find Skye with her bow drawer back, aiming into the kitchen.

Then out of no where that monster leaps forward to attack her.

"NO!" I yelled as I let my knife fly.

*thud*

I watch as my knife hit it in the head and it fell to the floor.

My eyes were locked on the lifeless creature on the floor.

"God Damn it."

I turn to see Skye holding onto her arm, in pain.

Blood from her arm was dripping onto the floor.

Pulling my shirt over my head, I wrapped her arm with it.

"It's just a minor cut, I think you'll be fine," I reassured her.

"Yeah, a huge cut dripping blood, but totally a minor cut," she said sarcastically.

"Skye I promise you, we will get out of here as soon as the sun rises," I picked her up, and in my arms I carried her to the bedroom where everyone else slept.

Carefully placing her on the mat.

I lay down beside her and she curled up into my side like a small child.

I began to sing her to sleep.

Skye's POV.

As Niall began to sing me to sleep.

With the thoughts fluttering through my mind, and my arm throbbing.

One last thought ran past my mind before slipping off to sleep.

"One last memory in this house. What a way to leave."

I close my eyes, and let the musical voice help me drift into a word of dreams.
