The weight of the files currently compiled onto the nurses' station were nothing compared to the weight I felt after the mediation. My phone kept vibrating in my scrubs every 30 mins. I shut my eyes, pinching the bridge of my nose as I sigh.

I should have just left the damn thing in my locker...

Jonathan was persistent I had to give him that. He was constantly asking me to speak with him and begging me not to take this to court.

Isn't he the one that wanted to take me to court over visitation with Paige. What, now that I caught him using our mutually money on his affair that isn't a concern anymore?

I pressed the backspace button for the 6th time as I take in the sentence I had just inputted. Cataloging patients' info was considered a menial task but I never minded it before now. One wrong mistake and you could miss updates on the patient's medications, dosages, or any of their allergies that they might have. I shook my head to focus on the task at hand. I wasn't going to loose my job over Jonathan becoming a slight hindrance... again. I was stronger than that.

"Hey girly!" I look up to find Lori walking back from her rounds and joining me behind the desk. She tilts her head as she looks at the screen and back at the file folder I was currently transcribing. "Are you still on the same patient? I was gone for 30 mins, you're usually flying through these." She commented as she moved the folders around to see how many I had left.

"Yea just a slow day for me I guess." I shrugged as a yawn came over me. Lori nodded her head assessing the situation, "Well let me help, hand me a file." She said as she sat at the neighboring computer station.

"You don't have to do that, you already have to do the patients you just did rounds for."

Lori shrugged, "Yea but that was only 10 of them, you have twice a many so when I finish mine I'll help tackle your pile." Lori suggested nonchalantly.

I gave her soft smile. She knew my head wasn't here. She was livid when I explained how the mediation hearing went. I had to stop her from jumping in her car and driving to Jonathan's apartment to and I quote "chopped his balls off and he see how much of man he feels then". I'm still surprised she hasn't punched him in the face. Though him being a lawyer might have something to do with it.

My phone buzzed again making me sigh needing to take deep breath. I looked at the screen only to be greeted by another text from Jonathan. I don't bother to open it and just place it face down on the counter next to the keyboard.

"Why won't you just turn it off?" Lori suggested.

"Cause if someone needs to get in contact with me about Paige my phone needs to stay on." I pointed out.

"Ahh right, mommy duties."

"Yup it never stops." I said matter-of-factually.

Lori and I both stretched our bodies over the chair and groaned when we felt something crack. "Finally finished!" She exclaimed as some staff members walked by playfully laughing at her antics.

"Yea, almost forgot what it was like to input patient info without stopping." That felt like a damn marathon.

"We do it so we don't have to worry about it later." We were organizing the files in alphabetical order and made our way to the archive room. The door shut behind us as we started putting the files back in silence. "How are you doing by the way?"

I sighed as I truly thought about the answer to that question, "I can't think straight. After the mediation I felt a whole new wave of betrayal. Part of me was telling myself 'well what did you expect?'. The other part was heartbroken to hear those things. To hear places that were sacred to our family or money that was suppose to help our family grow was used on her."
