My cheek bones never hurt so much from smiling before. I couldn't remember the last time that happened, the last time I felt so carefree. To be completely honest I was beyond nervous to go out with Ryan. I didn't know what to expect when it came to going on a romantic date with a man who wasn't Jonathan. Let alone is suppose to be my best friend, someone I had known for years prior.

It felt like old times with more romantic intentions. The constant touches and need to be close to me.  The look in his eyes when he watched me. It made a fluttering feeling appear within my chest and I didn't know what to do with it.

When he reached my house, he put the car in park allowing me to unbuckle and face him. "Thank you for today."

"Don't thank me just yet, I still need to walk you to your door." He nodded to my porch through the window behind me.

It was the little things that flustered me and this was one of them, "Ryan it's fine you don't need to."

"What did I tell you about opening doors around me?" His eyes were intense and held promise.

I nervously bit my bottom lip, "That I don't open them when you're around."

"Okay then." Ryan nodded once while quickly glancing down at my lips. I slowly placed my hand on the handle wrapping my fingers around it. His eyes flew to them and back daring me to do it.

"You gonna come open my door or what?" I challenged.

He unbuckled his seatbelt, mumbling to himself. Something about me being a brat, though I was too amused with his grumbling to care.

I was fiddling with my keys by the time we made it up the porch and to my front door. Turning to Ryan I saw a soft smile on his face. "May I thank you now?"

"You may."

I couldn't relax the smile pulling on my cheeks, "Well, thank you Ryan for tonight. I had a really good time."

"Really?" His face was slightly surprised.

I glanced at my keys before responding, "Of course. I always enjoy my time with you."

The grin on his face made the sparkle in his eyes shine even brighter. I liked seeing him like this. "I always enjoy my time with you too."

Ryan at first hesitantly, leaned in and kissed my cheek, the kiss lingering for a moment longer than usual. I closed my eyes feeling the warmth of his lips on my skin. When he pulled back his face was only centimeters from mine. I could feel our breaths intertwining. I licked my lips staring up at him not sure what I should do. Though I knew what I wanted to do.

He audibly swallowed and took a breath, "I should go."

"Probably." Yet neither of us was making a move to step away.

"I promised to show you that you should accept nothing less than what you deserve."

I nodded once, "You did."

"In that case, I should be a gentleman and let you go inside."

He was truly at war with himself. I had never seen that look of pure longing so present in his eyes before. It made me desire him all the more.

I did the one thing that felt right in the moment. I leaned in, connecting our lips. At first he was frozen, but his lips moved with mine slowly allowing me to truly take it in. The tip of his wet tongue grazed my lips asking for entrance and I gave it to him without hesitation.

Pulses racing and bodies heating. I cupped Ryan's face in my hands feeling his gripping tightly at my waist. Soon I felt my back pressed against my front door. I knew the minute we pulled away for air reality of where we were would come crashing down. I only wanted a few more touches, desperate kisses. I pulled him closer, one of my hands grazing through his hair and tugging on it. Just enough to get a low groan from him. His grip on my waist only getting tighter. We finally pulled away both trying to even out our breathing with Ryan resting his forehead against mine.

A strangled chuckle left him, "I'm gonna walk away now but not before asking for a second date." He lifted his head back to look at me properly. "Martha, will go out with me again?"

"Yes." He leaned in again, this time the kiss was quick, soft and innocent.

"Goodnight" With that he turned around making his way to his car. When I walked into the house the only thing that steadied me was the door. That feeling that flowed through my body, the feeling that I hadn't felt in years. I couldn't describe it but I knew I wanted more.
