Adrija's POV

The ringtone sliced through my sleep like a soft blade, pulling me out of a dream I didn't want to leave.
I groaned quietly and reached for my phone, squinting at the screen.
Trisha calling.
Before I could even answer, Adved stirred beside me. The moment the ringtone stopped, his arm tightened around my waist, pulling me closer as if my phone had personally offended him.
His face buried itself into the crook of my neck, warm and sleepy, breath uneven, his head nudging me possessively while I answered the call.

"Hello?" I whispered, trying not to laugh.

"Good morning, future bride," Trisha's voice chirped from the speaker. "Did I wake you up?"

"Yes," I said honestly, and felt Adved's grip tighten even more, his nose brushing my skin as if to say don't go anywhere.

I put the call on the speaker.

"Listen," Trisha continued, "we're planning a girls' trip this weekend. Me, you, and two of my office friends. Just a quick escape."

Before I could answer, Adved lifted his head slightly and looked at the phone with a dramatic baby face-eyes half-open, lips pouted, eyebrows knitted like a wronged child. I had to bite my lip to keep from laughing.

I sighed softly. "Not now, Trisha. Maybe later."

"What? Why?" she protested.

"I'm not very comfortable with your friends yet," I replied gently. "You know how I am. Maybe some other time."

There was a pause, then her tone softened. "Okay, fine. I get it. Soon, though."

Adved pressed a lazy kiss on my shoulder in approval.

We moved on to lighter things-my wedding, how overwhelmed I was feeling, how excited she was for me. I asked about her and Lakshya, and she laughed, complaining about his work schedule, about how life felt busy but good.

"We should at least meet for lunch today," she said. "Just you and me."

"That sounds perfect," I smiled.

After we hung up, I turned slightly-and before I could say anything, Adved wrapped both arms around me tightly, pulling me flush against him.
His leg hooked around mine, his face pressed against my neck again, lips grazing skin in a way that made my breath hitch just a little.

"You rejected a girls' trip for me?" he murmured.

"For peace," I replied, half-laughing, half-melting.

His hand slid lazily along my side, fingers tracing slow, unhurried paths that were more distracting than bold.

He didn't rush-just lingered, teasing, making his presence known.

"You know," he whispered, "I like mornings where you don't run away."

I turned my face into his chest. "You're a pervert."

"And you love it," he replied smugly.

Eventually-reluctantly-we dragged ourselves out of bed, got ready, and left for the office.

...............

The day passed in its usual rhythm. Work, files, meetings. Around lunchtime, I went to Adved's cabin to tell him I was stepping out. He looked up from his laptop.
"Lunch with Trisha?" he asked.
