Alain stood next to the pond, "Time to battle for my badge."

Koga, "Ready?"

Alain nodded, "Yup! We have been trained for this."

Referee, "This is a one on one match for the Soul badge between Gym leader Koga and challenger Alain. The rules are simple. Winner is the last one standing. No outside interference allowed and no drugs."

Alain blinked at the last part, 'Wait a minute! Drugs? Someone was dumb enough to bring drugs?'

Koga sighed, "I know what you are thinking about. Yes, there was a fool who used drugs before."

Cale frowned, "Was he suicidal?"

Ash looked disturbed, "Heavy drug abuse can kill you."

Koga, "She's undergoing rehab last I checked and sadly yes, she was."

Aria, "Oh dear! It was that bad."

Koga, "Yes, it was."

Alain looked at the red head in his group then said, "Well, I for one, am glad she is doing better then."

Aria nodded, "Agreed! She survived and now she's living a good life."

Koga smirked, 'Ah! They do not want Cale worrying over a stranger.'

Referee, "If both sides are ready please choose your Pokemon. The Gym leader will go first."

Koga, "Araquanid, take the stage."

Araquanid, "Iddd dddd."

Alain, "Pets show them what we trained for Squirtle."

Squirtle, "Squirtle!"

Ash gasped, "I have not seen that Pokemon before."

Dexter, "Araquanid, a Pokemon from Alola. It will attack using the head butt with bubble protection around their heads. Despite it's scary look they are known for raising their young covered in bubbles. However at the same time, they will catch pret using water bubbles to drown and feed their young."

Cale, "Definitely a mom we should not mess with."

Ash was a little green, "Yeah, be careful Alain, Squirtle."

Alain nodded, "I will be careful."

Referee, "Begin!"

Alain, "Icy wind straight at her."

Squirtle, "Squir!"

Koga, "Aqua ring."

Araquanid created an aqua ring just as Squirtle used icy wind. The result was funny in Cale's humble opinion though he did not laugh. The Aqua ring froze into icy rings and fell on Araquanid making her very angry and he was pretty sure she was cursing the turtle Pokemon. Raon, Ohn and Hong giggled at the angry rant but did not translate it because it was a language Ash did not need to know about. Cale though did not care, his eyes were on Squirtle who looked pretty smug as he used swift on the spider like Pokemon. Araquanid gave a curse as she dodged the attacks only to slip on the frozen water on her side of the pond.

Koga, "Calm Araquanid, use leech life."

Araquanid took deep breaths to calm down and attacked using leech life only to be hit by another round of icy cold wind. Why does the bratty water Pokemon even know this move? They are a water Pokemon last she checked not an ice type Pokemon. She really hated the cold and could feel her legs freezing now despite it being summer in the region. Ah! Araquanid now understood why they started with an ice type attack, they were planning on freezing her from the start. From the look on her partner's face it seems he has realized it too, they really should have focused on learning the sunny day, instead.
