Regal Arts

First day

Between the two of us Emma and I finished setting up the K&Q room in less then 10 minutes. It is still barely 8:15 and drop off is at 8:30. classes don't begin till 8:45. I know kids will be arriving soon so I go to my room, the Dukes and Duchesses, to make sure everything is in place. I also looked through the registration forms studying each child's face, so as to learn their names.

Before I know it kids begin to come in. First I see Grace, a sweet little 8 year old who's been here since she was 6. Next I see Hansel and Katie, returning 7 year old twins. More kids file in leaving one empty chair. It's already 8:50 so I decide to begin class. I walk up to the easel and begin to write 'watercolor' but I hear the click of the doorknob and the door to the classroom swing open. I turn around to see ruby with a little boy next to her. I recognize his dimples from the picture, his name is Roland. I walk across our paint pallet carpet to the door.

"You must be Roland!" I exclaim. And I get down on my knees to look him in the eyes.

"Yep!" He squeals, "I'm 5!" He declares holding his hand out with all 5 fingers strait up.

"Well it's nice to meet you Roland!" I say as I point him to his seat. "Your seat is the blue one right over there"

I watch him head to his seat and begin to talk to his table mates. He's so cute and social. And those dimples make me wanna melt. My thoughts are interrupted by Ruby who I forgot was there.

"His father was running late to work so he asked me to bring him in." Ruby tells me

I turn back around to face her. "Oh ok. Happens to the best of us. " and I give her a smile

"Ok well have fun!" She says as she leaves the room shutting the door behind her.

I walk back to my easel and continue the lesson.
