Blair's POV
We ran as fast as we could out of the pack house, mothers with their pups watching us as we ran. We were going to get caught, I knew it. Knowing my luck we wouldn't make it to the end of the territory.
"Keep running, we can lose them in the woods," Kacper muttered quietly, only turning back momentarily to make sure nobody was following us. I panted breathlessly in response and he only started running faster.
"Wouldn't it be quicker to run in Wolf form?" I asked him, finding it slightly odd that we were running in our human form. Kacper muttered what I thought was a 'no' in reply to my question and I just let it slide.
We continued to run a little further, and then I heard voices. Voices and howls.
"Shit," Kacper hissed in annoyance, "we need to try and lose them."
Thankfully, the woods that we were in were very crowded with trees, shrubs and anything else that you can think of, everything was very cramped together so hopefully it would be easy to lose our followers.
"Kacper, they're going to get us," I mumbled, tears threatening to spill from my eyes.
I was not going to let them catch us, I was so close to being free again, being with Riley again. Oh Riley, these past few days have been pure agony without him. My body ached just to be touched by him. I couldn't even begin to wonder how Riley must be feeling. I could just imagine him driving himself and the entire pack crazy.
"B, we'll be fine. Stop worrying," he assured me and then quickly crouched down in front of me. "Get on my back, quickly!" I did as told and quickly hopped on his back, my arms instantly latching around his neck. His hands immediately clutched just under my thighs and he bolted off running again.
The end of the territory was just coming in to sight, I could remember from when I accidentally crossed it the night I ran away.
Squinting my eyes I could just make out what looked like a line of human silhouettes and a couple of Wolf silhouettes dotted across it.
The sound of voices and howls grew louder behind us as we continued to run further through the woods, zig-zagging so we were sure they weren't hot on our tail. Kacper muttered a soft 'we're almost there' to me but my attention was on something else. Someone else.
A tall and muscular built man stood slightly more forward than the mixed line of humans and wolves. From what I could see his hands were stuffed in to his jeans pockets and his face held a hopeful, yet cautious, expression. As we got closer to the line I noticed a slight glisten in the man's eyes and instantly the hairs on my arms stood up, tingles erupting through body.
Ignoring the quickening pace of our followers I leaped off of Kacper and sprinted towards the line. The closer I got, the more my heart raced. I was sure any Wolf within a fifty foot distance could hear it.
I stopped dead in my tracks as I stood in front of the man I had grown to love, even after my accident. He stood by me when I had been attacked by someone he called his friend.
I ran the short distance over to him and jumped in to his arms, my arms wrapping around his neck and my legs around his waist. His arms protectively wrapped around my small frame and pulled me closely towards him, breathing in my scent, as I did with him; the scent I had missed so much.
He was mine. And I was his.
