"Riley, let me go outside."

It's been three or four days since Kacper and I escaped from Wes and my old pack and Riley hasn't left my side once. It's sweet how protective he is of me but I'm starting to feel a little suffocated. He also hasn't let me set foot outside of the pack house. Honestly, it's ridiculous; I need fresh air. I mean, I am half dog for crying out loud!

Riley peered up at me through his thick rimmed glasses that were balancing on the end of his nose and then simply shook his head, going back to his paperwork that was clearly more important than my wellbeing.

"Riley. This is getting stupid. Just let me go outside. One step; that's all I'm asking for," I begged, "one small step outside of the pack house."

Silence.

"Riley, please?"

Nothing. Was he seriously giving me the silent treatment?

Rolling my eyes I got up from the floor. Yes, the floor. He refused to let me sit on a chair until I stopped talking about going outside; which obviously I hadn't done and didn't plan to do. I was going outside one way or another.

I slowly tiptoed across the wooden floor of Riley's office, heading for the door when in the blink of an eye Riley was stood in front of me.

"Where do you think you're going?" He said in a hushed tone, sending chills down my spine - something he never failed to do - probably in an attempt to get me to stay in this room with him, which I would have done if he'd have let me gone outside.

"Outside, where else would I be going?" I bit back at him, crossing my arms over my chest and standing up straight, trying to make myself seem more powerful. I'm going to be Luna soon, I need to start practicing.

He pointed behind me, "right back to that spot on the floor is where you'll be going." I looked behind at my spot he had designed for me. He had given me cookies, cupcakes and a range of different drinks.

"Why won't you just let me outside?" I whined, slouching back down again, "it's not good for me, being kept in here--"

"I'm not losing you again, okay?!" He silenced me, stopping me from rambling on, which was probably for the best. "It's already happened twice, and both times I almost didn't get you back. I'm not letting that happen again!"

"That's what you're worried of?" I questioned, running my hand down his arm until it reached his hand where I then linked my fingers with his. "Riles, you're not going to lose me again. Wes won't come after me again, I'm safe. Nothing is going to happen." I assured him, though I wasn't quite sure if I believed what I had just said. Though as long as he did, that's all that matters.

"You don't know that though," he mumbled and I could sense him becoming genuinely upset about this. His hands had started shaking and his eyes shifted to a dark colour, something that only happened when he was mad or extremely worried. And right now, I think it's a mix of the two.

"I'm here, aren't I?" He nodded and let go of my hand, enclosing me in a tight hug instead. His head nuzzled in to my neck and he gently nipped at the spot where I was to be marked. It was slightly painful as it hadn't yet healed fully from the accident with Payton but it was mostly pleasurable; and I can't wait till it has healed so I can be properly marked by the one who was designed for me.

- I was going to end it here but I thought... Nah! -

Complete darkness surrounded me. My eyes were wide open but all that I saw was black nothingness. Riley's hand was clasped tightly around my own, not wanting to let go in fear of losing me. I had absolutely no idea where he was taking me but every so often he kept telling me things like 'we're almost there' or 'just a little bit further' and so on.

"Right," I heard Riley's voice again, "stay right there." He instructed and I nodded, not being sure whether he was actually looking at me or not. "Don't leave, okay?" He asked, his voice small and vulnerable.

"Okay," I said in barely a whisper.

The warm touch of Riley's hand left mine and I heard the sound of feet moving away from me. And then the sound of a door sliding open. Was he showing me to a new room in the house I hadn't yet seen? Or was he letting me outside?

A rush of cold wind then brushed past me, sending goosebumps around my whole body. "Are you serious?" I squealed, suddenly feeling really giddy. This may seem stupid to some people that I was getting excited to go outside, but when you've been stuck in the same room for three days, you'd be in the same position as I'm in right now.
