Chapter Twenty-Four

To me, the run home felt like we were running half way across the world. Riley's pain was radiating off of him and on to me and it felt like death was ripping me apart at the seams. That's one of the downsides to having a mate - feeling every ounce of their pain. It wasn't a good feeling at all.

He' s going to be okay, trust me, Payton told me through the packs mind link. I think part of me knew that he was in fact going to be okay, but the other part of me was worrying that he wasn't.

A million thoughts were running through my head and I didn't even realise that we had now entered the pack house.

"Get the pack doctor!" I heard someone yell. Me and Payton kept running through the house until we reached the hospital wing. Bursting through the door, Payton laid Riley down on the white bed and started pacing up and down the room while we waited for the doctor to arrive.

When the doctor finally arrived I sighed with relief. She sent a soft smile my way and went over to Riley. "Is he going to be okay?" I asked her.

She didn't respond and continued to check Riley over and then turned to look at me shortly after. "He's fine," she confirmed, "there's slight damage to the right of his rib-cage but it should heal itself. Just like anything should with us."

"Thank you so much!" I wept, leaping forward and hugging her. I knew she hadn't actually done anything but I was incredibly emotional right now and so grateful that he was going to be okay.

"Just make sure that he stays in bed until he's all healed." The doctor said as she looked up at me.

Riley was awake now and I smiled as I went to go and sit with him. "Me? Keep the Alpha from doing anything?" I laughed, "I'll do my best."

Riley let out a throaty chuckle from beside me and placed a hand on my waist. "Don't worry, I won't be too hard to look after-- shit wait, what time is it?" He asked suddenly in a panic.

"It's okay," the doctor said, "you weren't out of it for too long so you still have plenty of time to spend with your Luna before she goes in to heat." I blushed at that, suddenly feeling embarrassed. It made me feel slightly awkward that she knew I was most likely going to go in to heat but then I guess if she knew, the whole pack must know; and that made me feel even worse. "I'll leave you two alone," the doctor said and walked out with Payton following close behind.

I felt Riley's hands grip my waist and pull me backwards slightly so that we were closer. "I'm sorry we couldn't go on our date," Riley frowned, sadness washing over his eyes.

I smiled and shook my head, "it's okay. At least we still get to spend time together before we get separated."

"And I know the perfect way to spend it," he smirked.

We finished watching what felt like our hundredth film when Naomi opened the door and looked at the two of us with apologetic eyes. I looked over at Riley and kissed him quickly before Naomi whisked me away to the other side of the pack house.

Well this was going to be fun... Not!

So I know this chapter isn't exactly that long but I'm crammed with revision at the moment as my exams start in just over 9 weeks (also my birthday is in 9 weeks and 2 days so yaknow). I've also had incredible difficulty with this chapter; for the past few days I've been coming back to this chapter, looking at it and then clicking off it again because I had no clue what to write - which is why this is so short. 

I also just want to say that earlier on this evening I was thinking about finishing this book up soon. I know it only has just over 20 chapters but if I'm completely honest I'm not really feeling this book any more; I'm getting a little bored with it but I'm determined to finish it so that's what I'm going to do. I should end roughly on about chapter 30 maybe just below... So only a few chapters away.
