Preface
I ran downstairs calling mommy, I wanted to show her my new picture that I drew while I was in school today.
“How could you Sharon?! We have a precious daughter to be raising and you go and do something like that, and then you expect me to act like everything is frikken dandy?!” I hear daddy yelling at mommy.
I run to where they're at, in the living room.
“Mommy, Daddy? Is everything alright?” I ask looking up at my mom and dad. My dad is super tall and my mom is also pretty tall, but not as tall as my dad. He’s huge!
“Yeah princess its alright, but me and daddy have to sort something out-“ my mom began talking but Dad interrupted her.
“There’s nothing to sort out Sharon. Just leave.” He said looking very serious.
I watched my mom’s eyes glisten as they filled with tears.
Why does he want her to leave? What did she do?
“Why?” I ask.
My dad picks me up and I'm on his side with my arms around his neck and my face resting on his hard chest.
“Mommy did some unfair things, and she hurt me.” Dad answered me.
“Charley, I want her to be with me.” My mom pleaded. It looked like she didn’t want to let her tears fall and I wanted to remind her what she always tells me, its ok to cry. But why would she hurt daddy if she always says to him that she loves him with all her heart, just like he tells her he does.
I was always closer to my mom, daddy was working most of the time. Though recently, he’s been around the house and mom has been out late.
“No. Sharon I don't think that’s a good idea, she deserves someone who will be there for her and who will always be faithful by her side.” Dad said back.
“Mommy you can cry. It’s ok to cry, remember?” I said.
She smiled bitterly and opened her arms so I can climb in them. Daddy held me tighter but after my mom looked at him he let go and I was with my mom. She hugged me very tight and kept whispering stuff like ‘mommy loves you’, ‘you will always be mommy’s precious babygirl, and you will always have a place in my heart’ as she patted my hair. It made me sad, to hear her sound so sad. And it also confused me.
“Mommy?” I said and she looked at me with her face red and her eyes looking puffy and pink. “Why are you so sad?” I asked her.
“Oh, baby. Mommy has to go. I wont be around anymore. But its not your fault, you see mommy made a huge mistake and now she has to face the consequences, and that includes losing you.” She said sadly.
Daddy pulled me back into his arms and my mom picked up a bag and her luggages that were sitting by the door.
She kissed my forehead "Goodbye Jessica" she whispers then she kisses daddy’s cheek. "Goodbye Charley.” She said, still crying.
“No! Mommy don't leave! Why are you leaving?! Daddy tell her she doesn’t have to leave! Mommy don't go, I love you too! I’ll be a good girl!” I yelled as she opened the door.
I heard my dad trying to calm me down but I jumped out of his arms and pulled out the piece of paper I was going to give mommy.
“Mommy here, look! See? I love you. Pwease don't go” I said crying and showing her the drawing I made that my teacher said was pretty.
