Saturday February 26th = 1st Date with John
“Hey Lazy butt! Get up and wash your face.” I heard my dad telling me.
My eyes fluttered open slowly.
I look around and see him at my door. “Wha-Whyyyyyy?” I whine like a child.
I hear him chuckle “Because it’s already going on 1 and I’m not letting you sleep ‘till 2. Plus you have to eat something.”
I roll my eyes and pull my blankets up over my head.
Just about 5 seconds after I pulled them up they were snatched away completely.
I felt a cold rush run through my body and I shivered. “DAD! Its frikken cold!” I yell trying to cover myself with my pillow, and failing.
“Well maybe you shouldn’t be sleeping in shorts that short and a tank top in February. News flash Jessie, we’re still in winter.”
I roll my eyes again and shiver. Then I glare at him.
And he finds it funny. “Dad, can I please go back to sleep?”
“Nope. Get up wash your ass and get breakf-or well lunch. I have to leave soon so you’ll have the house to yourself all day.”
“Where you going?” I ask putting on longer PJ’s over my shorts.
“Well my boss is calling me in. He wants to go over a few things before we turn in the project on Monday.”
“Its Saturday.” I put on my slippers.
“Yea and the meeting is first thing Monday morning.”
“So you’re leaving early on Monday also.” I assume.
“Yes I am. I’m sorry babygirl if you feel like I’m hardly around but I’m going to get an even better spot in my job if I do well in the next few weeks.”
“Dad, do you actually need a better spot. You earn more than enough money.”
“I know babygirl, but you know I like going forward and not stopping.”
“Yup I do. But ok; Fine. Have fun.” I say bitterly.
I go downstairs and to the kitchen thinking about what I’m going to eat.
Hmm, I don't feel like cooking.
I go to the freezer and see some nuggets. I pull a couple out and put them in that mini-oven thing-a-mububiddy.
“Well I’m gonna go Jessie.” My dad said at the back door.
I was kind of disappointed, I admit that, because I don't want it to be like in the movies when the family loses there father or whatever to his job; like that movie Click.
But I have learned to make the best of each moment. Besides I’m turning 18 soon, I shouldn’t be torn if he works more because soon I’m off to college.
I walk up to him and hug him and kiss his cheek “Have a good day Daddy.”
“Your such a good daughter” he smiles “I love you babygirl.”
I smile “I love you too daddy.”
And he leaves. I go back to the fridge and pull out a Yoo-hoo and a Malta. I drink the Yoo-hoo and save the Malta for the nuggets.
I go to the living room and turn on the TV. SpongeBob is on!
I higher the volume and sit on the couch with my feet on the coffee table and drink my Yoo-hoo.
