Chapter 18: Another Surprise
Recap:
Before I could think Jenna already had his clipboard and her eyes were scanning it faster than lightening.
“Hey!” he pulls it back.
“LET.GO” she says through gritted teeth, but this time she was actually angry.
Jesus Christ. I mean you would think he’d call the security or something, but no. He fights the teen for his clipboard by attempting to snatch it back out of her hands.
Once again, I roll my eyes.
Only this time, they land on someone else’s.
I freeze in shock.
Wednesday March 2nd
That long face, the long hair, the dark not so big eyes. But my favorite part was the big cheesy boyish grin he had when he noticed me looking at him; it’s nice to know some things never change.
I charged at him full speed.
“Jake!” I yelled and jumped into his arms.
I missed his embrace; it always made me feel like no matter what, I was not alone.
He chuckled and held me tight while lifting me from the floor.
“I missed you so much Peanut.” He said using the nickname he put on me years ago; I actually forgot all about it. It was actually an insult when he first used it, he was referring to how small my brain was during an argument, but then he started calling me that to tease me.
I laughed at the nickname. “I missed you too Butthead.” I used what was my response during that argument (it’s from that VERY VERY old show Beavis and Butthead—not for kids >.<); I know it was a pretty weak insult but we were quite young.
He laughed also and after a quick squeeze he let me down.
“How’d you know we’d be here?” I asked and then my eyes landed on his company. “Oh hi um…” I waited for his answer.
She was a beautiful girl, in my opinion she was way better looking than me; she had straight thin long brown hair with golden brown highlights in the right places, big brown eyes, a heart shaped face, and long legs. She was wearing an opened jacket over what looked like a strapless shirt, skinny jeans and pumps. She looked great.
“Melissa. Melissa this girl is my baby sister’s best friend but she’s also like my own sister.” Jake said. Well…are they together?
I shook Melissa’s hand with a firm grip and a broad smile “Jessica”. He didn’t mention my name so I did. x)
“It’s a pleasure to meet you.” Melissa said politely.
“Likewise.”
“So yea, I found you through mom; I stopped by home, said hi and she almost immediately said you’d be in the hospital.”
Oh crap! That reminds me…
“Yea…speaking of that we need to go” I said and began walking knowing he’d follow “because Jenna is fighting a Doctor over his clipboard.”
“What?” Jake chuckled.
We reached Jenna and the Doc.
Surprisingly they looked quite civil; he was explaining the mix up but Jenna looked impatient, still.
“Look can you just tell us where he is.” I interrupted.
He peeled his eyes from Jenna and looked at me, with a very aggravated, irritated and pissed off look. “Room 306. Upstairs.”
