In the morning whits, small particles of dust tumbled down the swirling staircase, tickling my pale skin. I descended the steps carefully and stood in the archaic hallway. My eyes peered long into the shadowed room near the staircase, holding mysteries and secrets I wouldn't want my curious mind to query into. I could almost hear the growls of the large wolf whom pounced at me the day before. My throat tightened dryly at the memory.

Suddenly, low murmurs sounded down the long corridor. I hadn't made much of it until I heard my name being whispered almost soundlessly through the thin walls. I ambled down the wooden floor and found myself in front of a kitchen doorframe. The door had been propped open, showing me a white room with kitchen utensils resting in cabinets and on marbled counters. Everything was clean and precise, almost as if it were a room in a new and a urbane residence.

"I just don't understand." A familiar voice had grumbled. I directly hid behind a wall in disconcert. "We've always forbid her kind from the likes of us, it was our law for centuries."

It was Damien, his eyes clear as a bell, he carried a glass full of orange juice as his elbows gave him support against the countertop. Damien's enmity for me was deciphered in his features, as if my name would cause him to retch in disgust. My nerves settled uneasily. The man with dark, wise eyes sat straightly at the oblong table as he forked up a piece of white egg.

"You just have to deal with it, Damien," He said between his chews. "You must trust what the master has in store."

Master? I strained my ears to hear more clearly.

"It's all a mistake." Damien spat as he threw his glass into the sink. A loud clatter echoed through the room, causing me to flinch. "She does not belong here, she will never belong."

"There are no mistakes." The other muttered. "Or coincidence, you know this."

Damien sighed. "We all know what she is, who she is. And this-"

Before I could hear any further, footsteps had clicked down the steps and into the corridor. I jumped away from the doorframe and found Harry's irises glinting my way. He held a heavy leather jacket which had matched his attire; it wasn't much of a surprise to me.

He blinked in queer. "You ready?"

I stared at him for a moment before rapidly nodding in realization. "Yes...yes I'm ready."

He too nodded, but in a more inquisitive, clueless way. "Follow me."

I did what I had been told and trailed behind his dense footsteps. Harry wiggled his hand through his dark jeans 'till he found a set of keys that hid deeply in his pockets. As he slipped the silver key into the doorknob, something glinted at his dingy belt, and danced on the walls of the primitive hallway. Before I could investigate any further, he had swiftly opened the door and stepped out. I staggeringly followed suit.

It took me a short moment to realize that we were surrounded by oak and aspen trees, shadowing one another as their leaves fell from it's branches. The heat from the sun was absorbed by the nature before me.

"You live...here?" I nearly stammered. The Black Forest was a magnificent place, filled with wonders that casted others from seeing it's true beauty, but I had never imagined stepping foot in here ever again. I guess it had been an inevitable irony I couldn't escape from.

"Sorry to awaken your judgment, princess," Harry said dully, almost as if he were bored of the subject. "Would you have preferred a luxury suite in the Hampton's?"
