Students scurry through the halls, as if they were a swarm of alarmed wasps. I scramble between arms and shoulders, making my way into the office. The stuffy office holds more students passing by as they shoulder me over to the side. I attempt to squeeze my way through and move to the front desk. The office lady looks up to me once she noticed my presence.
I smile a small smile. "I'm here to pick up a new student."
"Which one?"
"His name is uh..." I quickly look through the sheet and gave her his name. She sighs and tiredly explains that the student is speaking with the principal and asked me to wait patiently.
My brow lifts questioningly, but I only gave her a quick nod. As I wait, I think about the new student.
What's he like?
Is he sweet, funny, vivacious? From the classes he's taking, he seems very intelligent. As I tried to picture him, he only came out as a silhouette, a dark figure that couldn't be defined.
As I was stuck in my reverie, the door to Mr. Seagulls' office brings me back to reality. I stand up quickly.
Mr. Seagulls steps out, followed by a boy wearing all black seconds later.
Mr. Seagulls smiles kindly once he spots me."Hello Ms. Berkshire. Sorry for the long wait, I had to finish up some things with Mr. Styles." He says. I only nod and smile sweetly.
"Natalie-if you weren't informed-this is Harry Styles. Harry, this is Natalie Berkshire. She will show you around the school today."
I look at the boy near the exit. Harry was very lean and tall. His jawline was sharp and his face was hard featured, almost as if he was made of stone. His curly hair hangs down on his forehead, a dark contrast to his pale skin. His emerald eyes are dull, yet little shards of light seem to escape as well. His lips form a frown as he looks me up and down, his arms crossed over his chest.
I smile nervously. "Hello." I spoke feebly. Harry hadn't greeted me back, he only looks down at me with curious eyes. The nerves start to grow as he continues to stare.
"Well, you guys better get going." Mr. Seagulls speaks and looks down at his watch. "Again, sorry for the long wait."
I look back at Mr. Seagulls. "Oh no, it's not a problem." I say and smile politely. Harry continues to look at me, his eyes burning at my skin. I shift onto my other leg uncomfortably.
"I have a meeting to go to, so I'll see you two later." Mr. Seagulls smiles faintly. Harry immediately walks towards the door and leaves the office. When I was about to follow suit, Mr. Seagulls calls my name.
"Don't let him out of your sight. I don't want any trouble from him, do you understand?" Mr. Seagulls says in a low tone.
I blink in confusion, then nodded, and walked out of the office. How odd, I thought.
Harry shockingly was standing against the wall on the opposite side of me. I thought he would've left by now.
Once I closed the door, he looks back to me with intimidating eyes. His hands were in his pockets; his posture tall and graceful, like a prideful lion. I play with the paper in my hands as I gulp silently.
"Uh," I begin, but wasn't sure on what to say. His emerald, piercing eyes caused my mind to blank, everything I planned to say disappeared with my voice.
"So,uh, you have," I quickly look at his schedule. "An off period now, so we don't have to head to your classes right away."
Silence.
