Kabeer suddenly moved. One second he was standing, and the next second he marched straight toward Atharyu. Before anyone could guess his next move, he dropped on his knees. Right there in front of Atharyu. And next grabbed his hand.

"Iss umar mein..." Kabeer said with heartbreaking tragedy in his voice. "Iss umar mein accha lagega... ghar se beghar hona?"

My mouth fell open at the choice of his words. Atharyu looked down at him, his eyes narrowing and going further narrow. Atharyu carries the look of someone whose patience has officially run out.

Kabeer tightened his grip on his hand.
"Bhai, think practically," he continued his words of wisdom. "Youth mein struggle karna thik hota hai. Character development hota hai. But abhi? At this age?

Atharyu pulled back from his hold, making Kabeer fall on his butt. And a wounded look covered his face, sitting the way he fell.

Aarav's voice came from behind me. "Bhai," he muttered dryly, "stop watching 'Kahi Beghar Na Ho Jaye Sanam'."

Kabeer gasped like someone had insulted his religion.

"Kabeer, stop putting ideas in her head." Shaurya rubbed his forehead. "No one is throwing you out."

Too late, Doctor Saab.

Kabeer had already planted several excellent ones.

Kabeer pointed an accusing finger at me. "You say that now. But look at her. She didn't agree to your statement."

All eyes shifted to me. My mouth fell agape. What the hell is he even saying?

Kabeer continued, "Power changes people. Today she is tying rakhi. Tomorrow she'll be standing at the gate like—"

He straightened his back and deepened his voice.
"Security! In sabko bahar nikalo."

I bit back my laughter. But the brothers snorted loudly at his statement.

Atharyu finally spoke. "Kabeer."

Kabeer instantly straightened. "Yes, Bhai?"

"Get up. Before I make sure you never sit down again."

Kabeer immediately jumped to his feet. "Violence," he muttered, dusting his knees. "Pure violence in this house."

After a few more grumbles from Kabir, the ritual continued. Now it was Ranveer's turn.

Kabeer flopped down beside him on the couch. The moment I stepped forward, Ranveer lightly pushed Kabeer aside. "Shift."

Kabeer slid half an inch. Ranveer shoved him again. "More." Kabeer sighed and dragged himself further away until there was space for me. I sat down where Kabir had been sitting a second ago.
