Summer
"Summer!" Renzy yells.
"What, dyke?" I answer. "MoMo left ya pussy cold again?"
"Hell yea!" she groans. "She talk all this shit about coming down to see me, but every time I get her in the bed, she push me away."
I roll my eyes. "I told you. The girl got feelings for an old friend of ours. She cant do it.... No matter what."
Renzy groans. "Ugh! She so fiiiiine!"
I throw a pillow at her. "C'mon, I got a photo shoot to do and an interview afterwards."
She rolls her eyes. "Is Lo gonna be there?" She's talking about Lauren.
"Of course she is. She is my manager!" I remind her.
"Yea," Renzy mumbles. "She been tryna fuck you forever now."
I roll my eyes. "I'll have time for love when I'm old. Besides, I-"
"Oh, please don't start this shit no more! You talk about her, but you talk to everybody from yo hometown, but her! Hell, you even went to see yo psycho stalker in jail! But why cant you talk to Kylie?" Renzy had a point.
I never was able to. I still haven't to this day. "Renz, I made love to her and left her the next day. I can't just fall back into her arms, claiming I love her."

"Miss. Summer," the host of Hot Today, Jennifer Styles, says. "We've seen you on every magazine this country has to offer. Everything from your start out at the supermarket on 18th street to Vouge! Are you done? Do you feel accomplished?"
I smile. "Successful? Yes. Excited? Yes. Content? No. Satisfied? Never. There's so many things to do. By the way, that's what I wanted to mention. I'm staring in theater's first ever released lesbian love story, The Color War."
"We've all heard! So, this is about two people in the army. Both female. Both of different race. Hence the title." Jennifer smiles at me. "So, America's dying to know. America's sweetheart is gay? Or nay?"
I laugh. "That obvious, eh?"
"SCANDAL!" The camera sounds play just like the ones from Scandal. "So, if that part's right, paralleling the movie to your life. Does that mean your girlfriend is white?"
I choke and spit out the water right there. OMG! I just spit on national television. "Uhm," I say, wiping my lip. "I, uh-"
"We've all assumed that if it was, it would be your manager, millionaire, Lauren Stacks. Are we right?" Jennifer leans foward.
"I, uh, no. I'm not dating her. I just-" I get cut off.
"Well that's all folks. See ya next time on Hot Today!" Jennifer hugs me and walks off as the lights die down.
I walk to Lauren sadly smd slouched. "I spit on national television!"
She laughs and rubs my back. "Its okay."
"ITS GONNA GO VIRAL!" I yell.
She pulls out her phone and shows an edit of me spitting turned into beat boxing.
"Shit," I mumble.
Lo watches it one more time and laughs. "Well, I'd love to take you out tonight."
I shake my head. "Lo, every time you ask, I'm gonna turn you down."
She smiles. "I'll never stop asking."

Narrator
Genius and fourteen year old, Raylynn, sits in her AP-Chemistry class, awaiting football practice. Raylynn has been playing football since she was six years old. As a sophomore, she plays starting running back for the Dolphins.
"RAYLYNN!" Mrs. Hunt says.
A zoned out Raylynn replies, "Huh?"
"Convert them... Since you've been sleep my whole lesson," she instructs.
"Uhm..... 2.5," she answers.
The teacher groans. "Ugh! Wrong again. Wake. Up."
"Sunny?"
The new girl stays quiet.
"C'mon, Sunny. I've seen your ACT score. That's a college test. The highest score you can make is a 36 and you have a 32 as a freshman." Mrs. Hunt leans against her desks. "Answer it."
"Uhh, Cynine to Guanine, and Adenine to Thymine. So, CGA TAC ACG." Sunny simply leans back in the desk, looking almost shocked that she spoke that loud. She quiets down. "Oh, that's not the copy part, though. Just the conversion."
Mrs. Hunt smiles. "Thank you, Sunny."
Sunny is a new girl at the school. Shy, but smart. That catches Raylynn's attention.
As Mrs. Hunt turns back to the board, Raylynn admires the girl sitting across from her at the table.
"Hi," a nervous Sunny says, noticing Raylynn looking at her.
Raylynn sits up. "Hey, ma. You new?"
She nods.
"You talk?" I ask.
She smiles and nods.
I laugh. "Can you talk to me?"
Sunny starts to say something. "I-"
Mrs. Hunt clears her throat. "Raylynn, do you have to influence our new student? You might pull her out of her studies."
Raylynn smirks. "I wanna pull her into me," she mumbles. Then, she speaks louder. "My ACT score is up, Mrs. Hunt. Dont play."
Mrs. Hunt folds her arm. "And your GPA for my class is down. Maybe if you stayed awake!"
Raylynn roll my eyes.
She continues to teach.
Raylynn leans back to go to sleep until she's hit with a piece of folded paper. She looks up and a quiet Sunny looks down.
The note reads:
FYI: I dont talk. Im kinda on a strike.Raylynn
I look up and smile as the bell rings. Yes! Football practice. I'm the dolphins' head running back.
Everybody rushes out of the class, but me, because I can be late for practice so why run, and Sunny, who gathers her pens back into the pouch.
"So, you dont talk?" I say.
She looks at me, then back down.
"I'll take that as a no." I pick up her backpack. "Do you want me to carry this?"
She smirks at me.
"What neighborhood do you stay in?"
Silence.
"Laren Place?"
Silence.
"Mareen Drive?"
Silence.
"H-T?"
She smirks.
"Can I take you home?" I ask.
She freezes.
"Can I?" I repeat.
She smiles.
"Yes? Yes. I'll see you after football practice." We walk towards her next class. "My car is the blue Avenger. You can wait by it if you wanna." I grab her waist and hug her. "Bye."
She's so cute. I dont do shy girls, though.
When I jog onto the field, Coach Hernan smiles. "There's my star player. Guess who's here."
I shrug. "Uhm, scouters?"
He shakes his head.
I look around and my dad, Kylie comes out from behind the stadium! She's been on the base for seven months this time snd I've been staying with T Mo, who just got back in town today.
I run to her. "I haven't seen you in forever!"
She smiles. "Well, dont leave me hanging. I wanna see the Dolphins' starting running back in action. Tryna be like ya daddy huh?"
Coach Hernan laughs. "She's a tad bit better than ya were, Ky. Same spirit."
"Is that a challenge?!" Dad asks as she throws me the ball. "Lets see ya arm then."

Laughing and talking with Dad on the way to my car, I feel the sweat dripping down my face. "Whew!" I say. "I'm outta shape compared to you, dad."
Dad puts her hand on my shoulder. "I been thinking. What if.. We go out tonight. Just me and you." She uses the football to point to me and her.
I smirk, then I see Sunny sitting on the hood of my car. Oh shit! Fuck no! I toss the ball to dad. "Hold that."
I rush to my car and pick her up. "Dont sit on my hood, sweet thang. You gone dent it up!" I put her on the ground and rub where she was sitting to check on my car.
Dad walks up. "You already got plans, babygirl?" she asks.
I groan. "Ugh. Don't call me that in front of the girl!"
Dad looks between the two of us. "Y'all make a cute couple."
For the first time, I hear Sunny laugh. "You think that's funny?" I ask.
Dad smiles at us. "Introduce me?"
I smile. "This is the new girl. She doesn't talk and is a genius. She's very pretty and humorous. Well.... As much as a mute person can be."
Sunny hits me.
I laugh. "I know you're not nute, beautiful." I look at my dad. Its so good to see her again. "Beautiful, this is my dad. She's gay."
My dad raises her eyebrows. "That's all I get?"
I laugh and nod. "Every girl I get falls in love with you. I cant have that happening no more."
Dad laughs. "Hello, young lady. I'm Raylynn's dad, but you can call me Ky. Im in the army and I like to take long walks on the beach."
Sunny laughs.
"What's your name?" Dad asks Sunny.
"Dad, she doesn't talk." I look at her.
"Well...." Dad smiles. "I was gonna take Raylynn to a college football game. Just me and her, but I think she'd love it if you came."
I look at Sunny.
She nods.
We get in my dad's black four door Jeep Rangler.
"I never did get your name," Dad says.
"Sunny," she says, quietly.
I can tell her name reminds dad of mom.
Dad smiles in the passenger mirror looking at Sunny. "I used to call a very beautiful girl, Summer."
