Chapter 27 - Gotta Go My Own Way

Ray
"Where you think you going?!" Ray yells as I walk out the house. Ray roughly grabs my arm. "Dont make me-"
"Do what?" I ask. "Hit me! Please! Please! Just hit me! I'm done with life anyways."
Ray stops. "Baby I'm so-"
I snatch my arm out of Ray's hand. "Who gives a fuck?"
Ray looks so sad. "Baby, I'm sorry. Just.... Don't leave me. Dont leave me!"
I look at her miserable face.
"I just-" Ray pulls out a tray from under the couch. Theres a white substance in a bag that she dumps onto the plate. She's finna snort.
I walk slowly to Ray. "Dont do this."
"SHUT THE FUCK UP!" Ray yells. "J-Just take RayRay and get out. She dont need to see this. Dont forget. If you run, Ima kill RayRay."
RayRay emerges from behind the corner. "Daddy?" She heard what she said.
"Baby, I-" Ray starts to Raylynn.
RayRay hides behind me.
Ray snorts her cocaine. "Fuck outta here."
I call Ky who's been outside this whole time.
"RayRay, go get in the car outside. Its white."
Raylynn shakes her head.
I bend down. RayRay run and go get help.
Ray hits me. Im out.
Kylie
A beautiful, mixed four year old runs out the house while Im sitting in the car with Mo. Could it be?
She knocks on ny window and I open the her. "Lady! Lady! Help!"
I want to cry because she doesn't know who I am, but there's no time. "What's going on Raylynn?"
Raylynn's crying. "Daddy hit Mommy! She's bleeding. Daddy says this bracelets gonna kill me."
I look at the bracelet and pray as I run to the door of the house. "Sit in the car! Lock the doors! I'll be back! MoMo, Ian got time, but meet me at my house 20 mins. Bring all yo lil techy shit!" I close the door.
I burst in the door and see Summer laid out right by the door. I scoop her up bridal style and carry her to the car. Her eye is black and her lip is bleeding. I place her on the back seat. Im not fucking done!
When i get back in the house, Im looking for Ray's bitch ass. I search every room until I get to the last one. I find her in the last room. He's out cold, but I don't wanna fight her like this. I want her to have a fair shot.
I drag her off of the bed. "Get up, bitch."
The drugs make her have an evile laugh. She swings at my face.
I deck hers. Cant nobody fuck with me. Im tearing her ass up! ....until Mo pulls me off od her. "Ky, you gone go to jail! Ky you gone go to jail!"
I get up and spit on her bitch.
She groans and laughs at the same. "Ima kill yo daughter."
I kick her in the face. "Not if you dead. Summer got yo fucking phone, hoe. Police on they way!"
Ray laughs. "You just dont get it. If I go down. Ima take you down too."

Summer
I'm so grateful to Ky for saving me at the beginning of the school year, but this city has too many memories for me. I got to go.
If y'all wondering, I was a hella cheer captain, but... I gave it to Lyndi yesterday. I know. I know. Y'all saying FDB, but when Ray went to jail, she tried to commit suicide. She needs something in her life. I hope this'll do it.
"You got me cuzzo?" I ask.
Renzy sighs. "I gotchya always, but moving down here? That's what you want? Fasho?"
I let out the breath I was holding in. "It's time."
She breathes too. "Ian got much, but.... What I do have is yours. I owe you my life, cousin."
I smile. "I'll see you tomorrow."
"TOMORROW?!" Renzy yells. "Aw shit. Summer, baby. That's soon. What about... Ky."
I sigh. "There's too much here."
"And RayRay?" she asks.
"She with her Daddy," I add. "They both get half of what they want."
Ky knocks on the bathroom door. "Baby... Are you okay in there?"
I clear my throat. I didn't want her to know I'm crying. "Yea. Babe. Im just ... nervous. Gimme a minute."
Ky chuckles. "You dont have to go all out, shugga. It's our one year anniversary. I aint had sex in a year. Anything will be okay."
I laugh and turn back to the phone. "I got to go, Renzy."
Renzy laughs. "Fuck it up, cuzzo."
I hang up and look in the long mirror. I look nice with caramel skin in my sexy black lingerie. My hair is curled and hanging down my back. I have on stiletto heels and red lipstick.
I step out of the bathroom slowly. Ky doesn't notice. She's on her bed, texting on ber phone.
I lean against the doorway and clear my throat.
When Ky looks up, her lips drop. "Sum -- Sum --"
I stalk over to her and out my finger on her lips. "Shh... Remember last year when you wanted to make love to me and you did? I want to make love to you."
Ky leans back in her bed. "Baby... I-"
I kiss her and straddle on top of her. I start kissing down her body.
"Baby, you sh-"
I'm kissing on her neck. "Let me love you... Please." In my head, I say, I want to say goodbye properly.
She lets go and I start to make love to her.

4:37 a. m.
I overslept! I slowly try and get up, but Ky wakes up. "Baby, you leaving? Its 4:37."
"No," I lie. "Im just going to the bathroom. Go to sleep."
Ky rolls over and falls asleep.
I get my stuff together, shower and muster up the courage to write this note/poem:
Ky,
I love you more than you'll ever know.
That's why its hard to let you go.
Thank you for all you've done for me.
In time I truly hope you gone see.
I never meant to end this negatively.
This just the way it gotta be.

Im leaving. I have to find myself. Make something of myself. Help my damned self. Do.... something.... I love you.

I kiss her cheek and walk out of her room, out of the apartment, and towards the airport. Its time for a new me.
