'WHAT?' I scream as me and mum shut the doors on our old green car. 'I know it will come as a shock love, but he is a very nice gentleman....He will be a good father figure for you as you are growing up...' mum smiles, looking very pleased with herself. She had left me, all alone in the dark, without a message, so I knew where she was.....To find a new boyfriend. 'I don't want another person around the house right now, I just want dad....' I moan as mum unlocks our front door 'I understand love, but.....I want a boyfriend, I don't want to replace dad I.....' mum reinsured me. 'It's all about you isn't it.....' I cry as I run down the passage which led to our garden. I didn't look back.

'Owww...' I grumble as I sit down on my little yellow swing. My stomach still ached from the punching. Too much was going on in my life, I just want it to stop....I drop my rucksack on the grass, then I begin to swing. Although the swing is very small, I can still swing a bit on it, like the good old days.

I don't know how long I stayed out there, but when I came back mum was gone, again, but this time there was a message on the side. It read:

Dear Rosa,

I love you with all my heart, and I hate it when bad things happen to you. When I get back, at around 11:00AM, I will talk to you about it ok?

I know you are upset about me finding a boyfriend, but you should be happy for me, for us. We need to move on Rosa, we can't live in the past anymore, I mean....Look where that has got us.....Nowhere.

I have left some pizza on the table, help yourself to a pudding, be a good girl. Go to bed on time, tidy your clothes, tidy your room.....

The list of jobs went on for quite some time, I didn't bother to read them. Mum should be able to trust me.

I shall be back by 11:00AM, give or take 1 hour. Please ring me if I am not back by 12, but I should be. And if you are in trouble then please phone me. I am doing this for us,

Mum xxxxx

I stare at the letter....Then I rip it up into tiny pieces. She treats me like a child, she doesn't listen to my opinion and she is going to replace dad. I don't bother to pick the pieces of discarded letter, I just take the pizza and I run upstairs to my room, alone. I slam the door behind me even though I knew that no one would hear it. I place the pizza on the floor and I begin to eat. Then it hits me, I would phone mum, saying that I am in trouble, but I wouldn't be. That would interrupt her date, she would have to come to me, her daughter in need. Then when she got here I could talk to her, and we would be together again, alone.

RINNNGG..... RINNNGG..... RINNNGG..... RINNNGG..... BEEEPPP... Hi, this is Rachael, or mum, please leave a message after the beep....BEEEPPP....Hi mum, it's me.....I am really hurt, my stomach is aching and I fell down the stairs, please come home. I need help....BEEEPPP...

I can't believe that mum did not have her phone on, she said if I needed anything, then I should call. She lied, yet again. When dad was alive we were all so close, we had no secrets and we did not make promises that we couldn't keep. And we never lied. I place the phone down, then I curl up on my bed, frustrated, confused and alone.
