JORDAN'S P.O.V

"Spencer? Are you going out tonight?" I yell through the bathroom door.

I am trying, and failing to do my own make-up. It's not often that I do this, only for special occasions. Special occasions include dates, hence why I am struggling to paint my face.

"Yeah I am, are you?"

"Fuck!" I curse under my breath, at the dodgy black eye-liner streak.

Spencer knocks on the door, asking if I'm okay.

"Not really" I respond, giving up on the task at hand.

He hesitantly opens the door with his eyes scrunched closed.

I laugh, "I'm not naked Spence, it's okay"

One eye opens, then the other.

"What's up buttercup?" He asks, sliding his butt down the wall to sit next to me on the cold bathroom tiles.

"I'm just really nervous for this date." I mumble in embarrassment.

Spencer shakes his head and chuckles.

"Why would you be nervous, it's Matthews! You guys spend all the time together at school, tonight will be no different Jordy." A kind smile plays on his lips.

I rest my head on his shoulder and sigh "Yeah, I guess you're right. I'm just being stupid."

We lapse into a comfortable silence, and enjoy eachother's company.

It's something we haven't done in far too long.

I break the silence first, "Where are you going tonight?"

I feel him tense up at my question.

"To do some studying" He replies uneasily.

A laugh erupts from my throat.

My brother is in desperate need of a better cover story. At least he could've made up something plausible, that there was a chance I could fall for it. But to study? That's just ridiculous.

"What?" I ask between giggles.

"I said, I am going to study." He repeats himself.

"Yeah Spencer, I heard what you said. I just wanted to give you another chance to tell me the truth." I reply, becoming pissed off.

Spencer gets off the floor, as he too begins to become annoyed. "I study every day Jordan!"

"Bullshit Spencer."

Spencer has always been smarter than me. Which is the true reason why he never studies. Not at the popular belief that he just doesn't care about his grades, but actually because he knows that his grades will be fantastic anyway.

"I have a tutor Jordan!" He yells.

"I'm calling bullshit again." I reply nonchalantly.

I watch and follow as he storms out the bathroom door.

Staring down at him for the top of the staircase, I ask for proof. "If you are so aggressively certain you have this 'tutor' show me. What is their name? What school do they go to? Our school? Who is your tutor then huh?"

Something passes through Spencer's face as his body language resigns. "I can't."

My eyebrows knit together in confusion as I wait for him to explain.
