JORDAN'S P.O.V
I can't feel my legs. I repeat, I cannot feel my legs.
My eyes blink open to black spots and the blurry face of the school nurse. A flash light is attacking my vision so I clamp them back shut.
"Sweetie, how are you feeling?" The nurse says, with a soft smile and kind eyes.
Attempting to sit upright on the bed, a sharp pain shoots up from my ankles.
Now I can definitely feel my legs. "Shit."
The nurse tuts in disapproval at my curse, but continues to bring me some painkillers. My right foot is in a cast and a pair of crutches are rested against the bed.
I groan. What the heck happened back there? Oh right, yeah. My brother and my (brother's best friend/enemy/opponent/I don't even know what to call him) were beating up my boyfriend. Which caused me to fall to my death.
I shoot up from a lying position too fast for me to register the pain. "Am I dead?"
"I wish you were."
Well that was quite a rude thing for a nurse to say.
I splutter. "Excuse me, what did I ever do to you?"
"I think we both know what you did bitch."
Okay, this lady has gotta learn her place.
I'm about to slam her when a figure appears in the doorway. "Jacinthe." I say dumbly. That makes a lot more sense.
Her face is tense and her stare is menacing. "Look if you're here to be a bitch, you're wasting your time because quite frankly, I could give zero shits about what you have to say today." I grumble.
"I just wanted you to know that I've taken your spot on the team for this coming season." She smirks, flipping her hair over her shoulder.
My heart jumps in my throat. "What? Why?" I try to keep the disappointment out of my voice and off of my face.
"Well, you've injured both your ankles and your back, so coach and your parents decided to take you off the team this year so you can fully recover!" She sings, with a mocking smile.
Tears are threatening to spill. Cheerleading means so much to me, and so does my captaincy. Ruby is going to kill me. "It's only a sprain! I'll be ready to go in two weeks tops."
"Darling, we can't let you hurt yourself again because you might be out of cheer for the rest of your life! And that would be so tragic Jordy..." Her fake concern makes me feel sick.
Its lucky for her the nurse is in the next room, or I would've dislocated her collarbones minutes ago. "Get out of my sight Jacinthe." I grit.
I look away from her cheerleading uniform, not wanting to be reminded of what I've just lost. "Don't be pissy Reid, you asked for this." She says in a low voice.
I meet her eyes. "How? What did I ever do to you?" I plead, tired of the drama.
"You got involved with him." She spits and storms out of the room.
First of all, she does not have the right to storm away from me. I'm not the one who stole her passion from her. Second of all, Ruby is not going to have a great time working with Jacinthe. Third of all, Carter was supposed to take me home, where is he?
"I'm quitting the team!" Ruby May shouts from down the hallway.
My mood soars when I hear the angry footsteps of my bestfriend approaching.
