JORDAN'S P.O.V
"They're all staring." I whisper to Ruby, my books clutched close to my chest.
Ever since I walked through the school gates, people have been watching me and whispering. I allowed Spencer to give me a ride to school but apart from 'pass the milk', I haven't spoken to him.
"I know, isn't it brilliant?" Ruby winks. That girl lives for the attention, I swear.
Everyone's either talking about a) my dramatic dismount from the pyramid, b) mine and Ruby's departure from the cheer team, or c) my brother and my rival beating up my boyfriend.
"Oh god" Ruby laughs, "You're life is like a fucking soap opera!"
I ignore her and continue walking to my locker. Ruby starts again, "Does that mean I play the bestfriend? I hope I get a spin-off, or a sequel."
"Of course you will." I reassure her.
Ruby looks pleased. "You'll be in it too, so will Carter of course."
"Why would he be in it?" I ask, confused and a little bit annoyed.
"Well, he's uh, your enemy and your brother's bestfriend." She offers, nervously tugging at her red strands.
I slide my books in my locker. "It's your spin-off, Carter won't be in it, and neither will my brother. It's gonna be a story about you finding love." I sing cheerfully, poking her in the ribs.
She coughs and splutters. "Nurse! I've been shot!"
"Oh come off it, I didn't poke you that hard." I scoff, taking out new books and slamming my locker shut.
"How's your injuries?" Ruby asks, not-so-subtly changing the topic.
I glance down at my feet. I didn't bring the crutches with me to school, not wanting to bring any more attention to my dramas.
"Apart from the flashes of pain every time I take a step, I'm feeling wonderful." I roll my eyes.
Ruby pats me on the back. "Don't worry babe, in time, people will forget about the embarrassing and chaotic life of Jordan Reid."
History class rolls around ever so slowly, and so far people still haven't gotten over it. Most people have the decency to try and speak quietly to their friends about me, but Jacinthe and her groupies have no such respect. I can hear them talking in those voices which are meant to look like you're whispering, but actually you're talking at a pretty loud volume.
I'm sitting in the back corner of the classroom, because this is the one class whom I have no friends to sit with. Luckily, most of the work is individual. If it ever isn't, Spencer comes and pulls up a chair to work with me, but given our current relationship status, that isn't going to happen. Instead he's sitting in the other back corner with some people from his group. People including Carter and Jacinthe.
"Alright class, partner up."
I rest my forehead on my desk and sigh.
"Reid my darling girl, I hope you don't expect me to do all the work!"
Maybe if I keep my head down it won't be true.
"Not looking at me won't make me go away sweetheart."
I groan and lift my head. "Stop calling me names."
Carter is looking at me with his cocky smile. He's got a dimple on his left cheek and for some bizarre reason I poke it. I honest-to-god poked his cute little dimple. I've always been a slut for dimples though.
