Barry sighs and rakes a hand through his hair.
"You are right. I know you are, but I... I don't know if I... I mean what if they get hurt... What if..."
"The world is full of 'what if's", Barry you can't let that stop you. What if I cross the street and get hit by a car? What if I trip over that stone, fall and hit my head just wrong?
I know you think that people being close to you can get them killed. Sure, there is always a risk, but it is a risk THEY are willing to take. We all want to help you make the world a better place."
She looks at him.
"You have to accept that for every person you save, there will always be one you can't..."Barry chuckles
"Joe said that to me once.""You are a hero Barry, you have a good heart, other wise you wouldn't be doing what you do. But every hero needs sidekicks, a team that has his back. I mean, Batman had Robin, Batgirl and Alfred. The X-men and Avengers were teams, and Superman had... he...uhm, wel he doesn't count, he's an alien."
Barry bursts in to a fit of laughter.
"Alright! Point taken!"
Wenn smiles. It's good to see him laugh."Superman did have Lois Lane and Jimmie Olsen" He corrects.
"True.""But seriously... I've been a jerk for months. Ignoring them, snapping at them, pushing them away. Remember that diner I was supposed to have two weeks ago?"
Wenn nods
"Total disaster, Iris had also invited Cisco and Caitlin. Caitlin was so angry, Cisco was Cisco and I just, I couldn't handle it and left."
"Ah, that explains the sudden return of the evil twin."
Barry chuckles
"Yeah.""Okay, we'll figure it out. But first; sleep. You haven't been getting enough of it, which doesn't really help your mental state. Not enough sleep can drive you over the edge." She looks at him sternly.
Barry looks at her unsure. He'd rather spend the night talking with her, getting to know her more, instead of meeting up with Wells in his dreams, something he knows will happen.
"He'll be there, he's always there when I close my eyes."
"Not... if I help you a little bit, if you're okay with that." She asks hesitantly."Okay? If that means I can sleep, you can stay here every night!" His eyes grow wide, "That's not, I mean, that's, that sounded wrong!"
Wenn starts to laugh, "Don't worry, I got it. Now get ready for bed"
Barry Flashes through the apartment and ends up in front of her in his boxers, t-shirt and a huge mischievous grin. She can't help but snort. He really is all sorts of adorable.
"Get in to bed""Yes' ma'am" He salutes her and dives in to his bed. He rolls on to his side and she crouches in front of him.
"You sure?" She asks one last time
"Just do it, Wenn" He tells her.
"Okay" She puts her hands on his and Barry feels the familiar tingling sensation. Instantly he starts to relax and it doesn't take long before he falls in to a deep dreamless sleep.Wenn sits next to him for a while, watching his relaxed features, glad that she finally got through to him.
She leans forward and puts a kiss on his forehead , "Goodnight, Barry."
