Barry storms down the stairs and makes a beeline for the Captains office.
Joe sees him rush past and wants to know what's up.
"Hey Bar..." He starts
"Not now, Joe" Barry snaps at him.

Joe sighs. Ever since that day he came back from saving, or actually not saving his mom, Barry had not been Barry. It was as if the light that he always carried had finally died.
Joe can't blame him; the kid had experienced so much. Many people lose it after only a fraction of what Barry went through. But man... He misses his boy...
He looks towards the Captains office and sees the two men going off at each other.
Barry bolts for the door and swings it open, stalking angrily back towards his lab.
Captain Singh appears in the door and yells after him "She's here to stay. Deal with it, Allen!" and slams the door shut.
"Ah...The new forensic scientist that started today" Joe mumbles to himself and sighs again.

Barry enters the lab, his face hard.

He looks at the girl, now standing in the middle of the lab. After he left she didn't dare touch anything else.
"Guess we're stuck with each other. You can use the desk over there." He points towards the desk stuffed away in the back of the lab.
"Okay..." The girl says as she collects her things and shuffles to the desk.

She sits down and watches as Barry flops down at his own desk and puts his head in his hands.
An awkward silence fills the room.

"My... my name is Gwendolyn, Gwendolyn Anderson. But people call me Wendy, or Wenn."

No answer.

Wenn looks at the slender form slouched in his chair and even though he's been an ass since the moment she met him, she feels sorry for him. It's like he's carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders. And for some reason she feels like it's more than metaphorical.

"Are you okay?" She asks softly
Barry gets up and walks towards the door, "I need some air."

As soon as he's out of her sight, he speeds out of the precinct and of the city, to the badlands.
Standing in the middle of this 'nowhere' he lets out a frustrating scream.
"God, I'm such an ass! It's not her fault that the world almost came to an end, get a grip Barry!"
After a good run to ease his anger and frustration, he decides to go back to the precinct and apologize to the poor girl.

"Gwendolyn? Wendy?" He calls out her name as he enters the lab, but it's empty.
"Great! What a dick move, Allen!" He tells himself.
He then notices a bright pink post-it on his computer screen;

Barry,
I'm sorry for invading
your space like that.
I had to leave early, but I'll
be here tomorrow, bright
and early! :)

He turns over the post-it.

The report on my findings
is on your desk. If you
have questions, don't
hesitate to call:
555-6575

Wenn.

He sighs and sinks in to his chair. After the way he treated her, he wouldn't have expected her to return, let alone be nice to him, yet here is this cute little note.

"I have to make it up to her." He says to himself and speeds out of the precinct.
