Upon arriving at the precinct Barry is called to a crime scene.
"Why don't you come with me? You can learn how to handle a crime scene." Barry asks
"Oh my god! I'd love to!" Wenn jumps up enthusiastically.
They catch a ride with Joe who notices the two forensic scientists talking animatedly with each other. He has no idea what the hell they are talking about, science stuff, but he notices Barry's mood has improved drastically.
He smiles, he hopes this isn't temporary and his boy is on the mend.
They arrive at the crime scene and Wenn and Barry start to work the scene.
"Okay, so look for clues around the scene, anything you find can be of importance. A candy wrapper, cigarette butt, maybe the perp spit somewhere or lost some blood."
Wenn nods.
"When you find something put a number and a ruler next to it and take a picture. Then bag it or swab it and tag it. Got it?"
Wenn puts up two thumbs, "Got it boss"
Barry chuckles and turns to work on the body.
Wenn is searching every inch of the scene, she finds nothing, absolutely nothing.
She looks around and sees Joe walking up to her.
"I'm sorry Detective West, there isn't anything here that could help us." She tells him.
Joe sighs, "Well, lets hope Barry finds something more on the body. And... call me Joe."
Wenn smiles, "Alright Det... Joe."
"Hey, uhm, Wendy?" Joe asks
"Yes?" Wenn answers.
"I don't know what you did to Barry but... thank you. He seems to be in much better shape!" He looks at her, his eyes lighting up with a small spark of hope.
Wenn turns to look at Barry, who's still engrossed with processing his scene, then turns back to Joe.
"We had a good talk and he's had a good nights sleep, but... don't let it fool you. He's not there yet. He... he hears voices, well one voice specifically."
Joe furrows his brow. "Voices... so he's...losing his mind?"
Wenn sighs deeply, making sure Barry is still occupied. "If we don't nip it in the butt, yes, that could be an unfortunate outcome."
Joe's eyes become wide and fill with worry.
Wenn picks up on this and says. "Look, there is more to it than Barry going coo-coo, but I can't discuss it here. Can I come by your house later to talk?"
"Sure sure," After all the events, he's not sure it's a good idea to trust her, but his gut tells him she's a good girl. She seems to be good for Barry and right now that's all that matters.
"I'll write down the address. Iris is out of town, visiting a friend so I'll have the house to myself."He scribbles down the address and hands it to her.
"Alright, I will see you tonight then, Joe." She puts a hand on his and gives him a small smile.
"It'll be alright."
"Yeah..." Joe answers a bit unsure. He just wants Barry to be okay.
"You guys ready?" Barry comes up behind them.
"Yup!" Wenn answers.
They pile into Joe's squad car and head back to the precinct.
Barry and Wenn head up to the lab to process the evidence Barry got off the body, which wasn't much either.
"Whoever did this, is good. He..."
"Or she..." Wenn interjects
"Or she" Barry continues, "left no trace"
"Nothing?!" Wenn asks surprised
"Nothing." Barry confirms. "I checked every inch of that body 20 times, nothing, not a hair, not a fiber, not even so much as a fingerprint."
"Okay... We'll just have to wait for the coroner's findings. Lets process his DNA and find out who this guy is."
Wenn takes the samples and starts the prep.
Barry doesn't like it. It's too clean...
He sighs.
Wenn starts the DNA extraction.
"Well there is nothing more we can do. This will take at least 8 hours."
"Why don't we write up our preliminary findings and call it a day?" Barry suggests
"Sounds like a plan!"
They work in silence until the preliminary part of their report is finished.
"Alright! Done!"
Wenn closes down her computer and grabs her coat and purse.
"I will see you tomorrow!"
She heads for the door, stops and turns.
"Barry..."
He looks up from his computer "Hmmm?"
"If the voice returns, if you can't sleep, please, please call me okay?"
He gives her a small smile and nods
"I will"
"Okay, night!" and she walks out the door.
"Night!"
He stares at the now empty spot for a while.
"Oh you got it bad, Barry." The voice says
Damn... he's back...
