Callie was in such a rush, she nearly left without us. Technically, she did, but Brei Ida hit one of her back tires with a throwing star. She kept the one they took out of her ribcage, which I think is creepy, but she says she wants to study its make and model to try and find the person who did it. Nope, still creepy. Needless to say, Callie was ticked, and Helix found it immensely amusing. Selina opened the back and pulled out a spare tire.
"How are we supposed to put it-oh. Never mind." Carter looked humiliated, as Helix and Callie lifted the car up a few feet off the ground from either side. Brei I da spun her throwing star around on her finger before slipping it into her back pocket.
"I thought only Callista knew how to do this." Selina asked, frowning.
"I just had a throwing star embedded and then taken out of my chest, Selina, I'm not about to lift half a car. Hey, you're leading a bit to the left--Helix what are you doing?" she demanded. He was making funny faces at me. When I didn't return them, he looked away frowning. Suddenly there was an answer to the question I didn't even know I was asking myself--he liked me because I reminded him of Key. He must've made faces at her when he saw her, and she made them back. I snapped out of my daze when the car revved back to life. Callie leaned out the window.
"You coming or what?" she yelled. I blinked and got in. Helix made a face at me in the mirror, and I made one back. He looked astounded. Then he winced.
"You know, don't you." he inquired. I only smiled at him.
"How'd you figure it out?"
"It was pretty simple."
"Was not. I made sure of that."
"Was too. I'm just like she was, I figured it out!"
"Oh, you're playing that card now? Well, it takes two to tango, doesn't it?"
"What are you even talking about?"
"Never mind, forget I said anything."
"Tell me!"
"No."
"Tell me now!"
"Not a chance."
"Why not?"
"Shut up, please."
"Excuse me? You do not tell a woman to shut up."
"Heh. Yeah, says who?"
"THE WOMEN!" we all shouted at him.
"Okay, okay! Sheesh!" I almost forgot what we were talking about, but then I saw Helix stick his tongue out at Callista, and immediately remembered.
"Tell me."
"What? Oh, no."
"I basically already know, why won't you tell me the rest?"
"Not a chance. You already know too much."
"That's what I just said."
"I'm not telling you."
"AARGH! You are driving me crazy!"
"Hmm, not what I was aiming for, but okay."
"WILL YOU TWO SHUT UP?" Callie yelled, eyes still staring straight ahead.
"We are discussing important matters here!" I shouted back. Helix on the other hand, might I add, was earlier yowling at me like a kicked puppy, shut up faster than Usain Bolt on steroids. Dangerous expression, I know, but I'll risk it since I may possibly meet my unfortunate demise today.
"So... where we goin'?" I asked, leaning forward so my head was between the front seats. Helix looked a little sad, then a bit mad. I couldn't help but feel bad for him.
"I... oh! I have no idea!" she exclaimed, and pulled over as fast as possible into the nearest parking lot, which happened to be a restaurant called Better Panda.
"Helix, you're driving, and I need to talk to Brei. Meredith, sit in the front." Callie ordered. We made all the switches, and once Helix started driving, Callie and Brei's lox voices could be heard floating to the front of the blue Chevy Cobalt, accompanied by Carter's light snoring and soft tf boys playing from the radio. Helix hummed along, and I stared out the window, watching city by Chinese city pass by.
