Our car ride was pretty interesting. Carter kept screaming when Callista turned sharply and she fell on Brei Ida, so I had to switch seats with her. Helix and Callista are ticked off at us for slowing them down, but I am the queen of sarcastic remarks. Especially when I play that game with Helix. Though he says he always lets the girl win, when he said that in the car, Callista slammed on the brakes just to tell him off for being both a sexist pig and a liar. Girls are the masters of sass, and don't you forget it. Boy did she prove that.
I saw an exit for the hospital about half an hour later.
"Here! Turn here, Callista!" I grabbed the backs of their seats, along with quite a bit of Helix's hair. He howled and wrenched his silky locks out of my grip.
"Shut it, you two, and you, whatever you name is, we're not going to the hospital, we're going to Araiah's use of Pain and Medicine," she snorted, "Hospitals. Please." she said, voice dripping with venom. She seemed calm at first glance, until you see her knuckles, white on the steering wheel, her jawline hard, as if she were clenching her teeth, and her eyes, which were blinking uncontrollably.
"You must have been really close. What, were you parabatai?" I made a joke for myself. Helix turned his head slightly, just enough to see Callista's face.
"No, we were not parabatai. We were even closer," she said, voice tightening, "She's my sister."
