I hadn't even realized I'd fallen asleep until Helix hit a rather large bump pulling into the driveway of that big old mansion. I had to get out of the car to see the top of it!
"Nice car, Callie." I commented as I clambered out the door, only to find that my legs had fallen asleep. I tripped over absolutely nothing. I never made it to the ground, which seemed to be a recurring fashion throughout this entire trip. Instead, Helix caught me by the elbow and hauled me back to my feet. Not that it mattered. I fell over again, and he caught me again. Fall, catch, fall, catch, fall, catch.
"What the hell is wrong with you, woman?" he hissed, after catching me for the fourth time. I shrugged.
"Oh, forget it, I'll just carry you." he said, and swung me over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. He shifted me around a bit when I complained his collarbone was digging into my side.
"Are you made of air or something? 'Cause you don't weigh nothing." he sounded funny, like he was talking to someone else, who wasn't here. Oh... never mind.
"You know, I may not be Key, but I can be me. Your own pint-sized ninja. Wearing heels, too. You'd like that, right?" I tried to sooth him, but it made me feel like my mom.
"You're wearing heels? How in the world did you run fast enough to catch us before we left to go to Araiah's?" he inquired.
"To be fair, Carter is too, but mine are taller. Can I get down now? My legs are fine." I pleaded. He set me down, and I showed him the shoes I was wearing--black 7-inch heels with silver studs on the side. He whistled, apparently impressed. I thought about leaving while I was ahead, but I'm not that mean, so I surprised him and gave him a tiptoe kiss. Tall
people don't get to enjoy this pleasure, it's only for us shorties. More to the point, I kissed him, and I surprised the living crap out of him. He kissed my back, and my planned tiptoe kiss quickly turned into a feet-off-the-ground kiss. When we broke apart, I pushed away with no gain, breathless.
"W-we should go. They're probably w-wondering where--" he began nervously, but I cut him off with my lips. We made out for only a few seconds.
"Oh. My. Holy. Goodness." Selina yelped, covering her eyes and turning .
"I am so sorry! I didn't mean to intrude on your, um... session?" , she said, looking much more in control of herself than she sounded. She was only eight, I had to remember, and (probably) wasn't accustomed to things like this happening. Helix chuckled in my ear, his breath tickling the side of my face. I smiled into the crevice of his neck.
"It's okay Selina, we're done." Helix snickered as he set me down.
"See you inside babe." I said, heels clicking as I creaked open the door and slipped silently into the darkness.
